If this ridiculous 11th Commandmant violating warfare continues, Bush should ask if anyone who voted for Ginsburg (any republican) 12 years ago, now plans on voting against Miers.
Republicans haven't lost their talent for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. I support President Bush.
Yes. And how I wish it was also Graham-less. The man is an embarasment and sullies the good name of South Carolina.
Thanks for posting this each week.
And we deserve some time away from them.
More like Newt got a call from his latest heart throb.....hilaryclinton.
Amen
Which is exactly the point Snugs made. They want a crony they know rather then someone "unknown". Funny Bush Sr didn't know Souter. He was the pick of the Repb establishment. He did know Thomas. Which one worked out better?
"This know quantity" is just a rational for "pick OUR choice" whining from the Punditry. Basically your choice is trust Bush or trust the Talking Heads. Based on the Bash Bush all the time coming out of the "Conservative" Establishment since the election vrs the proved track record of Bush Jr's Judaical choices, I trust Bush more then the Talking heads. That is only being reinforced when I actually compare the facts about her compared to the rather emotional nonfactual hand wringing by the supposedly "Conservative" punditry. Been really an eye opening experience to find out just how childish many of our "great thinkers" like George Wills turn out to be when they do not get their way on a topic. I expect better from "Conservatives".
On 10/9/2005 none of the Sunday morning talks shows (including the one on ABC run by a Democrat pretending to be a "journalist") had as their main topic Tom Delay. This, of course, means that the political tea leaves are saying Delay is going to come out smelling like a rose.
Grahmn says she's Bush's pick. He would not appoint someone who would not advance the Conservative agenda. Anyone who thinks Bush is afraid of a fight, hasn't been paying attention.
Hecht says she's a conservative lawyer who is familiar with the Constitutional issues she'll deal with on the Court. She does not need a crash course in Constitutional Law. She's been working with these issues in the WH Counsel's office. She'll be prepared for the hearings.
Such as being against the nuclear option.
Now Will is having a fit because the President has to live with the gang of 14.
Thank you George Will, for nothing.
"yeah I know it's rat coffee but what can you do?"
Find a satisfactory alternative!!
Where there's a will there's a... Cokie talking over him.
LOL. Now who could that be, I wonder. Little Timmy has really, and it appears permanently, outed himself as a branch of the DNC. It is also increasingly clear that he does not have an original thought. His "questions" today were nothing more than a rehash of the week's talking points.
It will carry weight with me personally. Be curious what happens to the Talking Heads if Borwnback comes out and speaks FOR her. They going to change their minds or find new excuses to whine? Frankly, I expect most of the Whaa Chorus will not bother to think about this. They are mad and nothing that happens from here on out is going to change their mind. Really amazing how shallow so many of our talking heads are. A complete inability to admit error. They are almost as bad as politicians that way.
On CNNs Reliable Sources, one of the guests was David Frum of the National Review--a man widely respected and a former Bush White House speech writer (and yes, he went to Harvard and Yale--so all the "elitist" rock throwers can came out now).
Check out his on-line diary from this past week:

Frum said he wanted the Bush White House to succeed, but the Miers nomination is a train wreck.
The Sunday Shows are ripping this nomination to pieces. Bush made (quite possibly) the biggest political blunder of his entire life this past week.
Gary Bauer supported McCain in 2000. He is simply jumping on the bandwagon, but as usual, he will be a day late and a dollar short.
"Correct me if I'm wrong but Souter and Kennedy were not the first choice were they? Also, I didn't think they were personally known by the nominating President."
I'm not sure about Kennedy, but Souter was not GHWB's first choice. Don't recall the name of who he wanted right now (but IIRC it was a conservative). Some told him not to do it as they wouldn't be confirmed and suggested Souter. Sununu was 1 of those that suggested him and said he was a conservative and could be counted on. Unfortunately, GHWB took their word for it and the rest is history.
GW knows HM and has worked closely w her for some time - big difference IMHO.
Agreed. I have always thought that Bush, unlike Clinton, didn't "pay favors" to his big time contributors. This Miers nomination, to me, confirms that.
These conservative elites, like Kristol, seem to be REALLY mad - even pouting.
I've said too much already.
