Ohhhhh...for Chr@#! sake...how long has W been in his second term? Anyone, anyone, anyone? And exactly how long has immigration been a problem? And I am sure...someone watched the DHS chief speak of the impending proposal dubbed, dubiously, enough "The final solution on immigration"
Jesus, not like the man's got a war to fight are crazed protestors to put up with.
To: hinterlander
I really think we need a strong and swift response to this immigration problem, including the ability to use lethal force if necessary.

Classic Pat.......the fact that the Bush's et al might not want dirty looks from the country club help is about the most plausible explanation I've seen on this idiotic policy (or lack of).

I won't consider impeachment until an attack comes and is proven to be the result of lax border control.

The state of emergency is a joke, it was all politics, there policies haven't changed.
Richardson is still for illegals having driver's licenses, the dem governor of arizona vetoed prop 200.
The only solution for the border is a wall and the dem enviornmental pro illegal governors are for it.
What good is this fake state of emergency if the governors are against a wall on the border.

Only if you can show mw where other presidents have been threatened with impeachment over this issue; either Republican; Democrat or Other.

Only if we could be assured Dick Cheney would be better on illegal immigration, and would therefore as President Cheney, step in and put an end to this border nonsense. Other than that, no real ROI on such a strategy.

This President, as witnessed by the continued infiltration of Iraq by Jihadist A$$%oles, seems to have great difficulty with the concept of '
Borders'.
I partial to definition #4 myself:
bor·der ( P ) Pronunciation Key (bôrdr)
n.
- A part that forms the outer edge of something.
- A decorative strip around the edge of something, such as fabric.
- A strip of ground, as at the edge of a garden or walk, in which ornamental plants or shrubs are planted.
- The line or frontier area separating political divisions or geographic regions; a boundary.
v. bor·dered, bor·der·ing, bor·ders v. tr.
- To put a border on.
- To lie along or adjacent to the border of: Canada borders the United States.
v. intr.
- To lie adjacent to another: The United States borders on Canada.
- To be almost like another in character: an act that borders on heroism.
[Middle English
bordure, from Old French
bordeure, from
border,
to border, from
bort,
border,
of Germanic origin.]

Would a Bill of Impeachment Wake-Up President Bush?
Another major terrorist attack within the US homeland perpetrated by some who entered illegally -- that would make Bush2's legacy lower than Clinton's, and the bill of Impeachment would probably succeed due to public demand.

Pat writes this:
Why should U.S. citizens be assaulted, robbed, raped and murdered, and have their children molested, because their government will not enforce its own laws?
Is this not an indictment of democracy itself? What dictatorial regime would put up with this?
No it is not an indictment of democracy since Pat correctly pointed out himself Teddy Roosevelt and Eisenhower, both elected would never have tolerated the situation on the border. What we have is bad leadership on this issue. Bush has an open borders agenda and nothing's going to change that until 2008 and a new president.

"Members of a border-watch group conducted an experiment this week: They snuck into the United States carrying a fake "weapon of mass destruction" and made it to a house in Sierra Vista without being caught, the group said.
The two members carrying a suitcase in a backpack crossed into Arizona west of Naco on Monday night. At one point, the two men crossed a border fence that separates the United States from Mexico, one member said"
