Maybe that's why he thinks she's a slut -- most girls in there probably are. He doesn't understand protected American teens on a special weekend abroad.
Perfect slogan!
Most of it is done in print.
I think we keep waiting for some flashy lawyer who is the master of the public relations campaign to emerge but most of these people are brainiacs who are masters of the written word. They don't have to play to a jury or to the public from which a jury may be selected. They only have to make the best written argument.
This is the reason for all of the secrecy. Their justice system is epitome of deals made in the smokey back-room. Nothing is out in the open because it doesn't have to be. Public opinion means nothing to these people and I believe that is why they can't or won't see why this is such a PR debacle.
This is also why Joran has so many lawyers. They're researching and writing. All they have to do is sway the opinion of one man and doing this by bashing the victim, victim's family, etc. is all right in their minds because the judge is only going to look at their briefs from a legal standpoint and there lies the problem. In the US Joran would be convicted by a jury of his peers on the most minute piece of circumstantial evidence because of his lies and arrogance.
On Aruba none of that will come into play.
Just an observation on my part. Now I'll crawl back under my rock.

From SM:
Souza on Crier: APPARENTLY there is physical evidence of Joran sexually abusing natalie: thats it. no details.

The "International Court" and the other world proceedings in "The Hague" are basically the same system. The ramifications of what you described in your post are immense, IMO.
Wait a minute...the brothels and pot-clubs of Amsterdam are coming to mind.
I don't mean to be corny but we are truly blessed to live in this country of ours. I am always in awe of the genius of our founding fathers.

"I think they are offended by the spotlight being put on their "happy island" imagine allegedly three girls date raped by Joran, several others report being sexually assaulted by others when they visited Aruba, and the two missing person cases also being reviewed..all this was brought to light by the media and natalee's disappearance..we now know Aruba is not crime free and people are forewarned. ""
I agree Rolling_stone! In addition, I believe the so called authorities are offended by the Twitty's detective work. After all, those in power in Aruba, thought the case was *solved/covered-up*, imo, when they arrested the two security guards. If not for the Holloway and Twitty family involvement, I have little doubt Juran would be free to run the streets, while the security guards sat in jail, awaiting a conviction in the disappearance/murder of Natalee.
I'm grateful for all the support Natalee's family has received, be it from the media, friends and family, or even strangers like us - who can, at the very least, pray for them.
I would bet that it is something that has been reported on then retracted, saying it has nothing to do with Natalee.
This really seems to miss the point...she went there to beg for information to find her daughter. And why you and others here believe that she should subordinate this instinct (one of the most basic) to the dictates of a justice system that has proved unworthy is beyond puzzling.
Arlene Ellis Schipper :
I don't think that MSNBC is that naive that they would film someone in prison without that person's permission. This is not a private prison. The warden is the primary problem at fault, but MSNBC is not that naive.
**
On Tuesday the director of KIA (local prison), Freddy Maduro, granted permission to the NBC news crew to enter KIA and film the institute from the inside as he gave them a tour. NBC was able film Joran van der Sloot in his underwear while inside his cell without asking for his permission. The Van der Sloot family did not take this development lightly as the went to court yesterday to ban the broadcast and distribution of the video material. The judge ruled that the video material is not to be broadcasted. Each time NBC shows the images/video they will be fined about 500.000 $. The fine was set at 1 million guilders. This is less than half a million US, so considering how much money a big network as NBC has, they may just show the images a couple of times to get the ratings a pay the fines without a hitch. According to various reports the director of KIA, Maduro, has been suspended, pending the investigation. He has not informed his superiors about the NBC tour beforehand and considering that this is a high profile case he should have consulted with Justice Minister, Rudy Croes, before letting NBC in.
Wonder what would happen if they sold it to a competitor?
Why, because it's a DUTCH ship, of course!
Those damn dutch! First they kidnap and kill all our teenage daughters, then they start trashing our ports!
Another thing Ted said was that it is crystal clear the authorities have no evidence. This case will never be solved. Never. The Holloways should just go home, memorialize their lost daughter, and try to go on with their lives. There is nothing they are going to be able to do to produce evidence that doesn't exist. It's unfortunate, but it's the truth.
