Tone what down, Mr. Bush? Who are you talking to?
To conservatives?
I think he is.
And I think Laura Ingraham, thinks he is, too.
And, proud of God Knows What, he slighted the conservatives who are suppose to sit around and watch their hair turn white as year after year after year after year betrayal, and now having given so much to put the Republicans and the Bush family BACK in power, who believed the oath Bush gave to church leaders, to conservative leaders, in back door meetings, when lots of money exchanged hands, and money from common people hard earned, and who told the common people all over this nation that he will fight to put a conservative on the bench, and now this from Mr. Peepers he tells us to “tone it down”? Laura Ingraham told Bush tonight, no YOU Bush, you tone it down. Don’t hush us. You hush. You listen. The House, The Senate, The White House, years and years in the making, and now it’s all yours, conservatives who ground down for you, and when it is time, you tell us to tone it down? Squander another 20 years?
Oh, I see. Really. Well, maybe you tone it down Mr. President, or perhaps as some are now calling you Mr. Peepers. Or should I be more respectful?
You tone it down when you talk to conservatives about this vital issue, this nomination to the Court. You better listen. If you told us a lie, you are going to really see who can make hell regarding “Bush Lied”, and it won’t be coming from the Left who are going to make you eat your own words.
You come to the conservatives, to the heroes, to the Patriots, willingly this time. That is more than just good advice, it's real good advice. Respect your family? You respect our families, and everything they have done for you. Your friends? Your loyalties? Who has been your friend, and gave you loyalty? You now need to respect our families, our loyalties. But if you will not approach my friends, my conservatives, with affection, of your own free will, you can take your family and your loyalty to your friends (in power) and you can sit and ride a dead horse right to where you are going, Mr. President.
Don’t you tell me about how the illegal aliens “do the work”, the work that Americans “won’t do”. Don’t you tell me what I would do or not do to support my family. How dare you. And you don’t tell us to tone it down. How dare you, again. Not this time.
Ugly words? You haven’t even heard it yet.

With Laura currently going thru chemo, perhaps she is only interested in the truth and character.
She's very inspirational.
Unbelieveable -- WH has to listen to its friends? Does that mean all the nasty attacks against the President he is getting on here from so-called conservatives? If he has friends like I have been seeing post recently, the President doesn't need any enemies.
I went to her website and couldn't find anything like what this guy wrote.
Are you kidding? This sounds just like Laura. I didn't hear the show but I could hear her voice and the tone she would have used while reading it!

If Bush should go for other than a true conservative SCOTUS nominee, he will find himself having tried for a bridge to far.

I agree with you -- makes little sense to have this up. But I guess if it attacks the President, it is okay. :(

Brilliant comment. I hope you're more effective when you address a city council, or write a letter to the editor, or engage in an argument with a liberal. Or do you disdain such activities as unconstructive whining?

She's one of my favorites. She seems to be holding up under the Chemo rather well as it really can incapacitate some patients.
And just what are you holing to do about it...hold your breath until you turn blue, type away on the keyboard until your fingers bleed, and/or get the sharpest knife you can find and slice your nose off?
I seem to remember her also mentioning Republicans giving us lousey judges, mentioning them by name and that she expects better from Bush.
Right you are. Bush's chastising of the ones who brung him to the dance really bothered me when I heard it yesterday. Some nerve. This is where my constant nagging feeling that Bush is long on compassion, and short on conservatism comes to the forefront. He's now not running again, and probably feels he can do as he pleases, and he can. However, what he does will shape how conservatives treat their position in the Republican party for years to come. They can stay home if peeved enough. It happened before, with Bush Sr. You'd think Bush Jr. would have that figured out. Maybe he does, and will appoint a true conservative to the court.
If he doesn't, he will have broken a trust with the largest voting block of people in the Pub party, and those conservatives will be wary of ever trusting a Pub politician for years to come. If Bush truly wants to stand on conservative principles, then now is the time to show that. If he wants to be Reaganesque, he should prove it. Let's see your true conservative colors, Mr. President, on an issue of enormous importance, not only to the Pub party, but to the very philosophical shape of our nation for years to come. Here is where you will make your imprint. Will it be a wimpy one, or a strong one.
I am maintaining a wait and see attitude, and I wouldn't be totally shocked if Bush disappoints; after all his father did w/Souter. Let's see if Bush repeats his father's mistake or rectify's the situation in his father's name. Bush Sr. got snookered by Souter; let's see Bush vindicate his father with a good choice, not a poor one. He did it with Iraq, now do it with the Supreme Court.
Fact is that Bush was not a gung ho conservative when he was here, certainly not on the issue of abortion. The Bush family is squishy on the issue, with the women being allowed to siddle to the pro-choice side or close to it. Jeb is, of course, perrty firmly on the right side, and the President himself pertty firmly there. But abortion is. like slavery, one of those barbed-wired fence issues. Better not try to straddle it, and Gonzales did.
Then everyone of the "presidents friends " here, who have been and still are, so opposed to him, every minute of every day, should just go sign up at DU! They're looking for 1,000 activists and I think all the ones they want are all now posting to FR.
