Terri Schindler-Schiavo Foundation Urges Wife of Disabled Jacksonville Man to Err on the Side of Life To: National Desk Contact: Pamela F. Hennessy for the Terri Schindler-Schiavo Foundation, 727-445-1766, phenn@zimp.org CLEARWATER, Fl., May 14 /Christian Wire Service/ - The volunteers with the Terri Schindler-Schiavo Foundation, along with the family of Terri Schiavo, are urging Jacksonville, Florida resident, Eliza Thomas, to allow her 34 year old husband to live. The Foundation has learned that Scott Thomas suffered brain injury in September of 2004 and has since been incapacitated and dependent on others. His mother, Pamela Patton, has petitioned the courts for guardianship of the disabled man and was awarded a temporary guardianship which could expire as early as June 3, 2005. Mr. Thomas's wife, Eliza, is currently seeking to take his guardianship over. Ms. Patton is currently pursuing neurological testing and treatment options with a Clearwater, Florida neurologist, Dr. William Hammesfahr. Mrs. Thomas, however, has reportedly stated that her intention is to move her husband to the Community Hospice of Northeast Florida and seek the authority to direct the removal of his gastric feeding tube, causing his death by dehydration and starvation. According to Ms. Patton, her son speaks a limited vocabulary, gives affirmative and negative hand signals and has successfully answered questions of where he lives, where he attended school and his situation. She states that he is aware and oriented. The volunteers of the Terri Schindler-Schiavo Foundation are urging Florida's Department of Children and Families (Florida's social services agency) to investigate the circumstances surrounding Mr. Thomas's injuries and to ensure that he is not currently a victim of abuse and neglect. Terri Schiavo's family is asking Mrs. Eliza Thomas to err on the side of life. According to them, the dehydration and starvation death suffered by their daughter in March of this year was anything but a peaceful and painless death. Statement of Bob Schindler, Terri Schiavo's father: The suffering our daughter endured and her death over the course of nearly two weeks was horrific. I am pleading with Mrs. Thomas to please reconsider her decision to seek the removal of Scott's feeding tube and to allow him to receive the therapy and rehabilitation he needs to improve. I beg Mrs. Thomas to give her husband a chance. |
No, just have your feeding tube pulled! /sarc
Okay. First of all, why was the mother given temporary custody? Why didn't the wife have custody? Is the wife remaried? Eliza SMITH?
Eliza SMITH is a curious last name. Even if she didn't change her maiden name when she married, since she's a Polish immigrant, why SMITH?
Anybody here know the answer?
Terr's case wasn't euthanasia. Saying it was doesn't make it so. Judge Greer found "clear and convincing" evidence that Terri did not want to live that way.
Now what is the thread?
It's being dismissed because you can't support it.
here's a photo of the tub-of-lard
=======
Looks more like a MOUNTAIN of lard to my mountain recognition specialist eyeballs !!! ;-))
Scott Thomas is bulimic and TRIPS OVER DOGS right after he's poisoned.
That accounts for his medical condition. Trust me.

Hmmmm . . . I figure you're Mark Fuhrman in a T'wit disguise !!! ;-))
I thought that, too, until I re-read the post and noticed that Future Useless Eater was encouraging "swallowing therapy". Looking at the man in the picture, he almost looks like an "advertisement" for that type of therapy (which I'd never heard of). We'll ask F.U.E. where he got that picture.
marked for 'meditation'.
Thanks for the link to TEJ Story, I read the whole thing.
If this isn't Terri Schiavo all over again I don't know what is? I hope the hell the mother continues to get custody, and why doesn't the mother file a police report? While she is at it, the Grandmother should file for custody of the grandchild as well. I am SICK AND TIRED (sorry for the caps but I am jsut so frustrated) of family members who have to fight for their children's lives. I am reading the thread form the top, perhaps when I get towards the end there will be an action plan.
Why didn't anybody ping me????????????

I am disabled. I get to use the wheel chair ramps that were put at the front of a building at a county government site.... because of the AMERICANS WITH DISABILTIES ACT...
DISABLED, DISABILTY....YES, SIMILAR WORDS.
I AM DISABLED ( CANNOT WALK VERY WELL) AND SO I HAVE A DISABILTY.
Very simple isn't it??? So, dear hildy.... we WILL use, as long as we chose, the word...."DISABLED"!!
Thank you, I just knew YOU would understand.
My Reply,
My daughter jsut completed her Masters Degree in Special Education a couple weeks ago. All through her college years she worked with persons with disabilities and she corrected me one day. I said, "Disabled people, blah. blah, blah," She said "No mom, you shouldn't say 'disabled people,' always say, person/persons/people with disabilites. Always put the word person first, before the word disabilities/disabled. If you say it the other way around, then the focus is on the word Disabled/Disabilities. First and foremost they are people, so say that first."
Think about the below two sentences
The Disabled Boy. (Focus is on Disabled)
The Boy with Disabilities. (Focus is on Boy)
I am enjoying learning from my children as they have now become adults, and since my daughter pointed this out to me I have always rememberd it. Thought I would pass this lesson from my daughter along on the message board and share the knowledge.
FYI, I have a minor disability as well, a couple fingers on my right hand are disabled and that causes me all kinds of typos, cuz the fingers drag on the keyboard, and my typing gets out of synch becasue some fingers eventually reac the keys but at the wrong time, that is why I have so many letter reversals. I don't bother spell check for the most part, unless it is something important, cuz then it takes me oh so long to post. I ahve been posting for a pretty long time so people who read my posts know this.
Jsut befroe I went to post this I saw it was in Smokey back room. I am scared, I have never read a thread in the smokey back room before. I jsut go to the home page and then click on the Terri Schiavo Thread and didn't even notice that this is in the smokey back room until jsut now. Yikes I think I'll read through the thread more before I post again. I hope nothing attacks me in the meantime....
Lame hearsay, years late, by an interested party, contradicting his own earlier sworn testimony, supported only by his brother and his sister. You believe it, I gather?
Good Idea, get the sone the hell out of Florida
> Hmmmm . . . I figure you're Mark Fuhrman in a T'wit disguise !!! ;-))
Mark Fuhrman can't write lines like that.

My Reply: Why that is exactly what I do. I don't post on certain threads, jsut not gonna tell yu which ones!
Then he got swallowing therapy.....
Hey I jsut noticed you ar FL_Engineer. Why did you change your log in?
And, Florida freepers, please don't vote for Crist for Governor or Rice for Fla AG. They are both from Pinellas County and that means run from them like the wind.
Visit www.theempirejournal.com today. There's coverage re: Crist and also re: Rice.
RUN LIKE THE WIND FROM CRIST AND RICE!
Have a great week, freepers. I'm waiting for all the books to come out just like everyone else. Crist, Rice and Greer should be concerned because they can't handle the truth.
Give Scott Thomas a chance or is this going to be another judicial homicide?
Maybe he can't with that particular case, as he explained. There are plenty of other cases that can be found though. And yes, they hear what people say many of those times. Was that your point?
