An Open Letter to Mr. Jim Robinson
April/25/05 | jveritas

Posted on 04/25/2005 6:13:10 AM PDT by jveritas

What is happening to Free Republic Mr. Robinson? The Bush Haters and Republican Haters are getting louder and more daring by the hour. These phony conservatives who claim the Conservatism purity are savagely attacking President Bush and the GOP as bad as the worst liberals.

The Bash Bush feast is becoming a part of every thread. Everywhere you see Bush is a traitor, Bush wants to sell our sovereignty to Mexico, Bush is a liberal, Bush has no spine, Bush is destroying our economy, Bush is puppet in Vincent Fox hand, Bush is this Bush is that, everything wrong in this world is Bush fault.

Nothing but doom and gloom is coming from these phony conservatives. For them our economy is destroyed, liberals are controlling the government, the GOP will be finished by 2006, Mexico has invaded the US and changed its identity, China is superior to us, we are no more a superpower, and on and on and on. Every minor bump in the road is turned into a Mount Everest of catastrophe and disaster

Either Free Republic will remain the Premier political forum on the internet, a site to advance the real conservative cause and provide great and continuous support to our President Bush and the Republican Party, or it will be forum controlled by bitter and delusional phony conservatives who can never win on the ballot box, and come to FR to poison the atmosphere through their extreme kooky rhetoric and turn it into another Dummyland.

Enough is Enough.

I'm saying that the GOP has morphed from the Contract With America in 1994 to a party that seems to LIKE bigger government (since it is now in charge of such) and is not willing to fight for the core convictions of its base - and is differentiated from the Dems in most cases simply by the fact that they aren't as bad. All of the points you raise, and your subsequent counter-points, are mostly a matter of degrees of difference with the Dems (with the exception of the PBA). Anymore, the GOP hardly stands for much of anything (except for the war on Iraq, which is a notable exception, but which is hard to comprehend when we also don't secure our own borders in a time of war). Ignoring the base is a recipe for political suicide. Bush doesn't have to run for re-election again. But the GOP has to run candidates in 2006 and 2008. Bush ignores the base at the party's peril.

"That's funny...I see the kooks on DUhhh stating just the opposite. They state that Bush is "Ultra Conservative" and is a puppet of the Religious Right."

Note to Newbie: Find a source other than DU for your facts! 'Real' Conservatives are not extremists as you imply.

I saw him on TV where he stated that he did not have a problem with it.

Shortly before the election IIRC.

Go back to DUmmy land, that is what they call President Bush.

You're so busy attacking people that you don't even realize that the post in question was a rebuttal to someone else.

And that's quite telling. You're too busy yelling at dissenters to hear a word they're saying. Kinda like the GOP leadership.

Of course, if the base doesn't come out in 2006 and 2008, it'll be all the fault of the base.

Go back to DUmmy land,

I have NEVER been to DU and won't ever go there. The closest I get to DU is reading PJ-Comix DUmmie Funnies.

I'll be back here in a few, doing a little research on you right now.

Also, do you not agree with tax cuts? Signing the law against Partial Birth Abortion? Not allowing stem cell research to create embryos in order to destroy them through research? Preventing foreign aid from going to promote abortion overseas? Declaring the ABM treaty with the Soviet Union dead so we can work on a defensive missile system? Declaring Kyoto dead? Refusing to sign on to the World Court? Pushing for an energy policy which includes drilling in Alaska's ANWR?

Yes I agree w/ them.

Apparently, to some those accomplishments insulate Bush from criticism that, during a time of war, he hasn't secured our borders, allowing millions of people to enter this country undetected each year.

If we have another major terrorist attack in this country, and it turns out the terrorists came across the border illegally, those accomplishments are going to recede from memory very quickly.

Once you call President Bush "Shrub" you are no freeper and you are no conservative, and you are no Republican.

Tell me where did you learn this word, only liberals use it and mostly on Dummyland.

Tell me where did you learn this word,

Oh, gee golly whiz, it's only been around since 1998 or so. You sound like a damn school principal asking a student where he learned a four-letter word - and you're becoming a bigger joke by the minute.

Oh, my goodness. Not the s-bomb!

Let's dust off the Sedition Act so we can throw them both into jail. And get the Spanish Inquisition going while we're at it. I got dibs on applying the thumbscrews.

Bush is the best we got right now. Is there anyone else that could do a better job? Maybe, but could he/she get elected? I'll stick with Bush, warts and all. No man has ever been perfect except Jesus and he's not here right now.

Sorry, it's just that some of us have a problem with Bush being America's first Mexican president and his big spending, big government approach.

He and Congress would do well to remember the Constition they swore to protect and defend.

Consice and very wise my fellow freeper. Unfortunately there is a very vocal minority on FR who is missing your very important point.

I call em as I see them. Bush isn't God and when he makes bad decisions(Borders, spending), I'll call him out on it. When he does something good(Bolton), I mention that as well.

And as for liberals controlling the government, they are. One word. Senate.

Mark Sanford - 2008.

Maybe, but could he/she get elected?

Absolutely, on a fiscal conservative platform.

Ah, so when he is dead wrong on major issues, we should just clam up? This is Bush's last term. What he does impacts the chances that we can get someone in 2008 who can do a better job on these key issues. If we accept this nonsense on border security and spending, then we deserve this nonsense.

America First Mexican President elected by re-elected by 62 million Americans, the largest number of votes ever!

Get off the rhetoric man.
