Hi, gang,
I was a regular contributor to the Kerry Online Forum and am now a regular contributor to the Common Ground Common Sense forum. I am a liberal, but I'll be the first to admit, I don't have all the answers. In fact, many of hte questions that matter to me probably matter to you too. I'm concerned with questions about how to tame power, whether governmental or corporate. I'm concern with the rule of law and how we can get the powerful to take it seriously. I'm concerned with the erosion of civil liberties. And yes, I am concerned about some things you may associate with liberalism--social safety nets and taking care of those who fall through the institutional cracks.
I'm here because I think agreement is overrated and that critics can be your best friends: they keep you from getting sloppy or careless. At any rate, I think there are things I can learn from you. I don't expect you are all agreed on anything--I expect there is a lot of diversity of opinion here. If you are interested in what I have said over at Common Ground Common Sense, I'm using the same handle both places, and you should feel free to come over and look around.
Anyway, I'm new here. Anybody care to give me a tour?
Taunting uppity Lib'rals is one of my favorite pastimes as well...LOL!!
FReegards...MUD
Bobby Kennedy and the left wingers are not the only ones that dream dreams.
I dream of a day when we have a truly conservative party and we redraw our borders to include the agrarian provinces and we "donate" the coastal blue states to Canada.
The President's commission report on Moon, Mars, and Beyond, which is the blueprint for NASA's new mission says that lack of private property rights in space will strangle any nascent space industry in the cradle. Their words.
This is another way the guberment infringes on rights of property owners.
Maybe she's in a P.E.S.T. rehab center. :)
easy killer, most of us on the coast aren't blue...
Thank you... On rare occasions I have my moments. :)
You'll learn that there is more diversity here than any dem spot in the world!
Some folks get beat up as they come on.
If you love the Constitution and all the founding documents that made this Country strong.....
lower taxes, small government, Ronald Reagan, innocent womb babies, 2nd amendment, SUV's, and Ann Coulter,
among a ton of other things. ;-)
Actually, libs hate most of these things!
mikey moore, george soros, hollywood, move on, ted kennedy,
dan rather, algore, and these KINDS of folks are so farrrrrrrr UNAMERICAN you may have a difficult time if you like them.
But if you are having second thoughts as to why W has won the White House the second time around, the Senate +, the House +, the Governorships +, and we have THE most watched and listened to radio, and TV programs, we'll talk.
And we're growing as we speak!!!!!
There are honorable people here, that have a DEEP desire to keep this Country strong and true!
We are Conservative and can tolerate your questions.
Where as we don't find that to be true on the other sites.
Try to ignore the doubters, if you can. We get a lot of "trolls" here who are looking for comments they can use against Conservatives later....for that reason you may not get a really WARM welcome.
I'm all for a good discussion, and I'm glad to see a liberal who doesn't view conservatives with hatred and loathing. My husband's family is chock full-o'libs, and I love them dearly, but disagree with them on every point. We don't discuss politics on the holidays, just to keep family harmony! ;)
are you the statuesque redhead............
Yes, of course, I am.
Interesting first post. Welcome to FR!
I guess there is no place to start except with your first jocular comments about general tendencies.
If, as you say, you feel that government (through the executive) should be kept small and limited in power, how do you reconcile that with the assertion the safety nets and social programs (beasts of money, control, taxation and power) should be set up and administered by that same government. How can a small government, limited in power, take large taxes and make a big redistribution bureaucracy functional?
Government makes a poor tool to plan outcomes with...it costs so much that the power aggregates to the flow of dollars.
Be gentle with Apes, he's still evolving.
I say Schadenfreude to them. :)
Are you a Union Thug? I really mean are you a Union Member?
I know several people that are Union members, who really are conservative, because they have been brainwashed the Republicans are out to get them. My best friend is a member of the Union and he thinks he is a liberal, which is the way he votes, but morally he is a conservative, although, he has his priorities misplaced.
If, I want to stay his friend, I cannot talk to him about anything political. I wish he were more like you.
WOOOHOOOO.
If I wasn't already married..........
Got plane tickets?
Happiness isn't guarranteed in the constitution, just the ability to persue it. If Healthcare is going to make you happy, then go make the money to afford it.
Isn't it ironic that Kerry was running on affordable healthcare, yet his running mate is one who has caused the high cost of it?
