I never bought into it in the first place:)
My suggestion, especially since you're asking for a tour, which to me means you haven't read the site, is to read this site. Read it every day (it changes minute-by-minute by the way). When you feel you have something to say to something posted, hit "reply" and say your piece. After about a month or a year of reading and/or replying to others' posts, post your vanity again.
When people register and the very first day they post a vanity like this, it makes me wonder if they want to learn, which is usually accomplished by listening, or just need someone to listen to them.
Anyway, welcome to Free Republic. Hope you find what you're looking for.
Is that in reference to the modern state?
Lol!
I'm not making any sense today!
Woo-hoo!
I am a conservative Republican who voted for Bush (three times -- once for governor, when I lived in Texas, and twice for President) and I have an answer for that question.
Answer: I can no longer sit and talk with my family at the airport, while they're waiting to board a flight, unless I, too, have a boarding pass. When they're going to be gone for weeks or months at a time, it used to be nice to joke and laugh with them before they got on their flight.
In a post-9/11 world I no longer can do the above.
Look no further than your neighbors to the North. My elected liberal leaders (not that I voted for them) were eager to pass same sex legislation but asked the supreme court for permission to pass legislation rather than passing legislation and telling the judges to abide by it. Bass ackwards by almost any measure of the democratic process.
Truth is I've only been there a couple of times. But as I recall, we had some of our own problems of censorship at the Kerry Online Forum. Freedom of Speech puts burdens on us all, I think.
Fluke happens.
Is that a civil liberty?
`` I love it! I still have much work to do though.``
Its kinda funny with us. I have always been a bit right of moderate and now my wife is frigg'n militant conservative. When we are at parties and I say something that is in anyway the least bit lib I have had it. She chews me out.
Thanks for the update. I was unaware what modern liberals were all about.
I think you need to reconsider the fact that you are a liberal.
It is possible that you are a Democrat but not a liberal.
The first rule of liberalism is you will not listen to another opinion without yelling or name calling.
Having an open mind means you were insufficiently indoctrinated, or you have not been exposed to a balanced enough education to make up your own mind.
Well, private forum owners strike a balance between that and Freedom of Association.
Do you mean only at the Kerry Forum a couple of times, or DU?
Anyway, I'm new here. Anybody care to give me a tour?

Eeek, understood!
Stay (relatively) safe up that way.
Gee, I like to help but I need to do some CHRISTmas shopping.
Listen to the Michael Medved show. It is on Noon to 3pm PST.
He can help.

Sniff sniff... I'm smelling ozone. He's on a fact-finding mission (probably a nice little hit piece).
Too polite by half.
Well, we DO have Democrats on FR who do not agree with the direction their party has taken.
Odd, but somewhat understandable.
