liberalpragmatist (1000+ posts) Thu Nov-04-04 02:45 AM Original message I Trust JOHN KERRY

Edited on Thu Nov-04-04 02:49 AM by liberalpragmatist Look, guys. I realize that people's emotions are running pretty high right now. Of course people are upset. I am too. I expect to get flamed, but I don't care.

John Kerry is an honorable, decent, and great man. I had so much hope in him and all day today I've been thinking about what we've lost - I honestly believe John Kerry is one of the best Presidents the United States will never have. It's horribly disheartening.

Now I see half of DU slandering the guy and turning their back on him? Slandering him so viciously? Attacking him as spineless? You guys, the writing was on the wall. There was mathematically no way for him to reach victory. That was obvious. Now, there may have been some irregularities, but there's no way to prove that.

Do you really think John Kerry gave up lightly? The guy is truly a fighter. He has wanted to be President his whole life! WHY the hell would he give up his lifelong dream unless he absolutely had to?! This man was born to be President. Some sympathy for him please. He's obviously personally devastated. Could you not see the sadness in his demeanor during his concession speech? What would he give up unless he had to?

Some of you guys say he caved in for his own personal gain. Uh - WHAT personal gain? Don't you realize that this was everything Kerry wanted? He's lost the dream of his life. What favors could he possibly be doing to himself?

The man is obviously sad. I'm sure he feels 100 times sadder and more heartbroken then any of us! He did not make this decision lightly, and he's a patriot first and foremost. If there was no mathematical possibility of him winning, why drag this out into endless legal battles over votes that aren't going to affect the outcome?

I for one will always remember John Kerry. Obviously in hindsight some mistakes were made. But the campaign was made in utter good faith. He gave it his all and he did us proud. We made clear progress on important issues like national security - the unfortunate thing was we lost despite that because we didn't foresee the composition of the electorate. That's not Kerry's fault - that's a fault of the left as a whole. Kerry did the best he could. He very nearly beat a sitting president with high personal approval ratings in wartime.

And I'm not going to let my personal heartbreak with this loss turn my back and betray someone who fought so hard and so sincerely for us.

17. Kerry was the "rat who jumped the ship". Not us

I thought the Captain of the ship was supposed to go down with the ship.

Hell....I was still in the galley rowing the motherfucker, when I looked up because the drums stopped. To my suprise the Captain, First Mate, and half the crew were gone.

Fuck it...I'm gonna keep on rowing. Kerry can get back in the boat if he wants to, but I won't trust him as my Captain again.

absentee ballots/provisional ballots are counted. As long as it's before Jan 20th, right?

Is it true that they are crucifying Kerry over there for losing/conceding? I would really love to see some of that!

Wow, transgender, nice! We're executing all non-heteros now?

"Please, please, please...help me. And please, Mods, don't delete this like you did to my last thread like this. No, I'm not going to actually do anything drastic here, don't get that idea"

I've heard stories, but never been to DU, I didn't realize it was really like that!!

LOL, I have spent more time there today than here..

Here is a funny one, well to me anyway......

pauliedangerously (358 posts) Sat Oct-30-04 08:47 PM Original message

I just cancelled my cable TV today ...and sold my television. I did it purely out of protest, deciding that it is nothing more than an insult to my intelligence. After reading news on the internet, tv seems bland and a step or two behind. I guess I'll miss football a little bit, but I'll be more productive around the house on Sundays and I'll have more time to read.

I'm not suggesting that people follow suit, but if you've thought of doing something like this I thought you'd like to know you're not alone.

I DID IT.

I'm outta here for tonight.

Peace.

Oh... that one is priceless... maybe they'll have more time to read the Bible instead of getting lied to by the MSM.

Hi, ambrose:

Mermaid needs help. (#24)

And a History lesson about how bad things were for blacks in the 1950s and 1960s.

The Governors of those states where blacks were attacked by cops, dogs and high pressure hoses during the Freedom Marches of the late 1950s and early 1960s.

Were DEMOCRATS!

Not Republicans.

I don't mind if Homosexuals want to live together. But I draw the line at them flaunting their sick, self destructive "agenda" while wanting the same "rights" (Read access to Insurance and adoption) as Married Couples.

Jack.

ciaobox (746 posts) Thu Nov-04-04 12:02 AM Original message Dems. Please listen to me. Please. We can only win now by dirty tricks.

We have nothing else. The high road has killed us in three elections in a ROW!

1. We need serious dirty tricks: undercover prostitutes with cameras in every Republican bedroom. Out EVERY gay Republican. Out every racist Republican. Drug setups. Deep undercover ops INSIDE the RNC and Bush camps.

2. As much as this is not "us", we need to cheat. We need to figure out how many votes they are going to steal and steal just as many to make it even. Hack the machines; dissapear paper ballots, whatever.

3. In states where we have Governors, we need to way underrepresent red areas with polling machines/places and saturate the blue ares.

4. We need to adopt the same voting disinformation tactics they do.

5. More. More. More.

There is no other way at this point. We have been FUCKING MARGINALIZED. 10% of this country now has 90% of the power. Can't you understand? They control EVERYTHING. State. Federal. Congress. Courts. Corporations. EVERYFUCKINGTHING. So. with 50%+ of the population and 10% of the power, what can we do? We only have the choices above when it comes to elections. Or we can just stay naive and smile and try a little harder and convince ourselves we can win next time. But if you think we can muster more than we did THIS time -- your fucking nuts.

I was just thinking how we are just the opposite of the DUmmies. They are ready to hang Kerry for concedeing. If I could ever get a speck of respect for Kerry, it would have been durring his concession speech today. I wouldn't gush like the MSM did today, but it occurred to me that at least he didn't try to destroy the country like Algore did.

That was what really scared me about the Dimms this year - they really seemed believe "if we can't have it, then nobody will." I'm glad Kerry pulled back from the abyss, even though I know why he did it.

He has wanted to be President his whole life!

That is one thing that really frightened me about Kerry. He has no principles other than wanting to be President. As I recall, Carter had the problem. Look had how badly screwed this country. Kerry would have been even worse.

We have well and truly averted disaster by sending this wannabe President back in oblivion where he belongs.

"I'm glad Kerry pulled back from the abyss, even though I know why he did it."

Why DID he do it?

a) Because the votes really weren't there? (Never stopped them before)

b) Because Hillary and Bill told him if he screws it up for Hillary in 08 he would be found floating face down in a Ketchup vat?

c) he was broke - out of money?

d) Teddy Kennedy went over to his house and twisted his arm, promising him something big? (McAllif's job? - oh, wait that would be Bill and Killary's to give wouldn't it...)

Now A seems most logical, but logic has never mattered before. I think it was clear that they were waiting not only on ohio but also New Mexico and Iowa, and their inside operatives were telling them there was just too much scrutiny being paid to ballot storage and counting proceedures for them to get their hands on them as in the past. I would LOVE to review the telephone records from Kerry's house last night.
