Levin: Kobe talking plea deal for non-sex crime
Harvey Levin via Good Day Live | Self

Posted on 08/04/2004 10:56:48 AM PDT by GAGOPSWEEPTOVICTORY

According to Harvey Levin ("Celebrity Justice") from sources connected with both sides in Eagle, Colorado:

1) Kobe accepts a plea bargain for a non-sex crime misdemeanor such as Third-Degree assault. (misdemeanor, Kobe might get probation, wouldn't have to register as sex offender).

2) Kobe settles the civil case. Pays a financial settlement. Gives letter of apology saying, "that even though Kobe Bryant belived that he was doing nothing wrong, that she felt she had been assaulted in the hotel room, and for that he was sorry."

No plea deals struck, but parties talking about it.

The testimony matters when you chose to defame him and say you now know he did it.

I'm not sure you can plea down a felony, can you?

And why would he plead to ANYTHING when she's going to sue him? She needs a "conviction" of any kind to make her case.

With all due respect, that was not the way it worked in the OJ civil case.

I don't even know who caused the bruising on her neck.

The handprint/bruise was the size of Kobe's hand.
Not many that large.

Your house is safe IMO! I hope this promiscuous little liar is exposed and the DA (who is planning to duck the trial himself) is shown for the incompetent that he has been.

Care to wager a $5 donation to FR that if the large civil settlement deal goes through with no jail time on misdeamanor assault charges that more than 50% of the US public in a scientific poll will say that he is guilty?

I think kobe is considered public and therefore defamable.

However, the prosecuter could name our little starlet and get her for mistatements/obstruction of justice...

The handprint/bruise was the size of Kobe's hand.

Haven't seen that definitively acknowledged. Please point me to the evidence

As I posted this morning on another thread. Kobe will now be forever tarnished. His status as NBA's poster boy is toast. Stern will find another hero to promote as the face of basketball (Lebron). With the florida woman in the news (even if she doesn't testify) we are looking a the Mike Tysonization of Kobe. From here onward any accusations (truthful or not) will be taken very seriously. His credibility is gone forever with most fans.

You can plea down anything. The DA in Salt Lake City could plead Hacking to making a false missing person's report if he so chose and Hacking took the deal.

Clearly from the reports today this is only going to settle if there is a global settlement. Mr. Bryant is still being the gentleman here giving this woman a fig leaf of respectability to hide behind.

Someone here made up the $10 million figure. If she gets any money out of the deal it will likely be much much much less. A fraction of that amount. As someone suggested yesterday on a thread, maybe about what Bryant would pay this month in legal fees.

The handprint/bruise was the size of Kobe's hand.

Absolutely no evidence and/or testimony to that, period.

There was a TINY "bruise" on her jawline that was NOT visible to the nurse on first inspection.

There was not a mark on her, other than that "faded bruise" smaller than a dime.

I wouldn't bet anything with you, because you don't have the facts of the case at hand to make a considered wager.

Speaking about Bryant's case last week on Z100 radio in Portland, O'Neal said his former teammate would need a jury of rappers -- "Ludacris, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg" -- to get off.

What does Shaq know that would cause him to say this now and how is his being pulled into this rape case related to his trade ?

Of course you can plea down a felony to a misdemeanor. It happens everyday in courtrooms all over the country.

I found this on another board:

According to Colorado Law, such a charge can't be pleaded down. Kobe is either a registered sex offender, or completely exonerated. There is no middle ground.

'Small' settlement as in the 4 million that he paid for his wife's jewels or more like Jacko money? The press is going to go apecrap on the prosecution for the deal anyway..
