Former Iraqi Soldiers Will Not Restore Order in Fallujah
The U.S. Marine plan to have former Iraqi soldiers restore order in Fallujah ran into trouble Sunday as the former Iraqi general heading the new force denied there were any foreign fighters in the city, calling into question his commitment to American military objectives. A few hours later, the top U.S. military commander said the general would not be allowed to lead the scores of armed men he already has mustered in the city.

Thank you, onyx.
It's a bit disconcerting to have false accusations about my behavior made by one who is, himself, so ill behaved.
The last thing I said to the fellow on the thread (a few days ago) that I assume he is referring to was, "Thanks for your service to this country, af_vet".......and I meant it.
Now I'm curious as to why he's decided to make these accusations about me...........
(vet, I'm pinging you because I'm talking about you, and doing the polite thing........not because I expect, or want you to explain your bad behavior to me.....)

"arms for the new iraqi brigade"
Only read one report, and I have been fooled by the press to many times to fall without Fox or UK Times or even CNN confirming.
But if true and they are used against us, well ...., let's get the report confirmed. I'll google and see it anything turns up.

"fire him? we could assasinate General Saleh in about 15 seconds, he can't possibly think he could pull this off."
Maybe they sent him and his troops in with no ammunition?
Now all of them are surrounded!

The only thing more screwed up then our press is the idiot Freepers that seemed to have overwhelmed this site, and automatically believe everything the press says. When will you folks ever learn.

I'm not sure anyone said they trusted him, GSC. I think they said they'd be watching him closely to see if he could be trusted.
Guess he can't.

see 46, you read anything about arms and amo for the Fallujah figthers? No. I hope they were not resupplied by our new lwae. That would be a shame.
To: oceanview
there has to be something else to this, a missing piece. if indeed this deal materialized, and fell apart within 24 hours, but right after the arms for the new iraqi brigade were delivered - then our top military commanders who made these decision must all, to a man, be total idiots. I just can't believe that.
That does appear to be the sequence of reports. If not stupidity it would be treason. Take your pick.

I'll leave it to the audience to judge your comments for the last 24-48 I think you are ignorant and a huge loser who has never been in charge of anything except your mouth.
Have you always been grossly stupid? Or did you have to take lessons?

Does anyone really know what's happening in Fallujah?
This is what is happening, time is being wasted. We are being embarrassed. The enemy is killing more of our troops all over Iraq while we sit around.
We should have taken Fallujah 3 weeks ago. THEN we would have been well underway to Iraqization of the situation. But first you have to send the message that WE WON and THEY LOST.
We have wasted a whole month. This month should have been to great victorys - Fallujah and Najaf.
Our inaction EMBOLDENS the enemy. Until we get that through Condi's head, we will have big problems. She stated in the 9/11 hearings that we did not react to the Cole bombing because we might embolden the enemy.
Don't worry about what the Arab Street is going to think about USA actions.
Make the Arab Street worry about what the USA is going to think and do about Arab actions. President Bush needs to start replacing some politicians and Generals before he gets replaced.

It must be your prayer circle ...
How fitting.
Knock prayer.
You are a real beaut.
