MEE-OWCH! Could a catfight be brewing between "Saturday Night Live" newscaster Tina Fey and right-wing pundit Ann Coulter?
While presenting Al Franken with his comedy trophy at yesterday's New York Magazine Awards, Fey lauded the liberal author of "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right" for skewering the likes of Coulter and Bill O'Reilly, adding: "Have you ever seen Ann Coulter in person? It's like seeing a rat. It's like, ewwww!"

Ummm.. 13-year old boys are not RACKED, if you know what I mean. No, I don't.

Have you seen Colin Quinn on Tough Crowd (comedy central)? I'm pretty sure he's conservative and the show is his political debate show. It's an awesome show that deserves much more attention than it gets.
As for jimmy Fallon (the guy on weekend update with Fey), I think he's funny, but not so much on SNL. (because the writing sucks)

Dude, that's not a very flattering picture of Ann....
Honestly I think on looks they are both cute, neither one of them's gonna lift my mast simply by looks... but they aren't ugly women.
Ann, ideologically ok, but just too damned Rabid, she shoots herself in the foot much of the time IMHO in debates... not by what she says, but how she delivers... Fey, she is humorous, and has definately helped SNL a lot... she was a writer for quite a long time before becoming on air, and her leadership in the writing department definately brought SNL back from the dead that was the early to mid 90s SNL.

I've read some of Ann's stuff. She's okay. I've read better---much, much better, in fact, Well, yes, so have I. But I've also read much, much worse.
I think it's reasonable to defend Coulter vs. Fey. Maybe not to defend Coulter vs. Pearcy, but that wasn't the subject of this thread.
While Coulter may never be called a literary giant, she could be called a heroine for standing up for truth when doing so makes you a target. And she didn't just call Joe McCarthy a nice guy, like a pussycat, and then move on. She wrote chapters explaining how he had been maligned (probably intentionally) with detailed endnotes. Have you ever tried to defend Joe McCarthy in public?
She draws a bullseye on her chest then goes out where the archers are and takes them on. That's a far cry from saying something vacuous among a group of your supporters.
Shalom.

This thread's context is an airhead gathering called the New York Magazine Awards, an event featuring narcissistic comments and self-congratulatory backslapping from a bunch of people who have as much substance as the gap between Paris Hilton's ears. Far from piling on Ann Coulter---not that it would take more than a JV waterboy to pile on her adequately---I'm saying I could give less than a rat's ass about what any of these simpletons think. I've read some of Ann's stuff. She's okay. I've read better---much, much better, in fact, and yes, I'm talking non-fiction vice fiction. If you think she's brilliant, good for you: go with it. Satisfy your inner child or whatever fantasy about Ann you might have for yourself. Personally I don't like my women to look like 13-year-old boys, but that's just me. Then maybe you didn't read the article. It never mentioned what Ann Coulter thinks. Misplaced intellectual condescention notwithstanding, SNL DOES have an effect on the voting habits of gens X & Y. The potshots Fey and Frankin take at Coulter and O'Reilley are directed at President Bush by association. I'm glad you are proud of your ability to see through them, but I've got some troubling news for you: So are the rest of us. But that's hardly the point. Most of us are here because we ARE more politically aware. We are politics junkies or groupies. But the rest of the country, for the most part, is not. They form their political opinions by listening to Frankin or Hannity or Coulter or Moore. Coulter had a number one selling book last year. Her prose may not satisfy your elevated standards, but what she has to say is still important.
Your argument is based on my screen name? How brilliant.
Um, your lengthy hompage is devoted to Hemmingway. It would not take Sherlock Holmes to figure out that the man is personally important to you. That's fine. I enjoy his work too. But your devotion to Hemmingway, of all people, precludes you from attacking others for the character flaw of "narcissism." That exact trait made his personal life a mess.

Fey was a comedian? I though she was connected to the producer. (daughter or something) Why else would someone give her a job writing? Seriously her, writing? That explains a lot. Thought she was a bad reader.

God how I love threads with pics of Ann. Far to many pics of Fey, though...

It must be the frankins and feys are fighting for those hard core michael moore viewers who will pay for anything that is anti bush.

I think he's funny, but not so much on SNL. (because the writing sucks)The horribly unfunny Tina Fey started as a writer for SNL in 1997, and a few years later became head writer.
For most viewers, this timeframe marks SNL's transition from "not funny anymore" to "completely unwatchable."

Men stand up and strike. No leftist chick flicks.
Don't even let your children near them.

Then maybe you didn't read the article.
Of course I did. I don't post w/o reading the article. Let's cut through the baloney: Ann Coulter is revered as a goddess on this site for 2 reasons: (1) she's conservative and speaks up, and (2) apparently most Freepers are smitten with her looks. You think this thread would get any traffic if it were about SNL attacking some ugly double bagger of a woman, no matter what kind of a "pit bull" she was versus the Left? I don't.
From what I've read of Ann, she's a decent pundit, but absent #2, above, she'd be an also-ran. Ergo, this thread is all about defending "a 'hot' chick because she thinks like us." This cult of personality garbage is something I find distasteful in the Left and it's just as distasteful in the Right. Sorry to throw the cold water, but man, Tom Petty with boobs and a vagina? Pass the bag.
As far as my homepage is concerned, it's just a bunch of Hemingway pictures and quotes. I write for a living and Hemingway is my favorite writer. WRITER. I know he was a major-league asshole away from the typewriter.

How could you leave out Phil Hartman? He was the most talented comedian ever to appear on SNL?
BTW, in recent years Will Ferrell was occasionally riotously funny. So were Tracy Morgan and Tim Meadows.

As head writer she's ruined that show. I can sit through a whole SNL without cracking a smile. I feel sorry for the people up there who I think have some serious comedic talent, Rachel Dratch especially.

Al Franken didn't have to act to be Stuart Smalley. He just to be the bitch that he is.
Tina Fey.....who?
SNL hasn't been funny since Kevin Nealon was doing the weekend updates.

I'm with you: She's not all that and a bag of chips. hehe
She's got a BRAIN though; God bless her for that.
I'll never understand how she's viewed as "good looking" though. She's not ugly; but she ain't no hottie in my book. Good Lord, if she was any thinner, I'd be worried she'd blow away. Women who are that skinny only look good in pictures. In real life, they look like Ethiopian refugees.

frankin making fun of anyone? That's a riot in and of itself. Take a look at him and see if he is qualified to make fun of anyone.
Also, frankin making fun of Ann Coulter? Yipes...I'm sure she is shaking in her boots at the thought owl frankin doesn't like her.
Hey frankin.... you are a loser. We know it and you know it deep inside. You should be as good or as popular as Ann Coulter not to mention having her intellingence. So far you are batting zero and me thinketh it will only get worse for you. Ever hear of the word hasbeen? Look it up if you can read that is.
Go do something constructive like switching parties and coming over to the right side of the coin you idiot.
