Exurge, Calvinisti, et judica causam tuam...
Arise (some mss read Swarm), O Calvinists, and plead your cause. The doctrines of grace are mightily assailed by those who would proclaim with their father, I will be like the Most High. Set forth the biblical case for a sovereign God who is jealous for His glory. Disallow through disputation (and lampooning when needed) the damnable errors of those who have refashioned the great sola doctrines into a salvation-helper gospel that exalts the fallen will of man.
From every corner, in every thread exalt the right of God to do whatsoever He pleaseth. Be not dismayed by persistent anthropocentric rantings. Blessed are you when they revile you for the sake of the truth. Happy are ye when the Servetus card is played and the strawmen are paraded before you for He who is enthroned in heaven reigns.

The saints post, and the false accusations (see above posts) come out of the woodwork!
Post #604: There YOU go. Be gone. You are officially rejected here
Yes, I think this "Pope Piel" thing has gone to the poster's head.
Attempting to trample on my freedom of speech, when you guys love to swarm to any thread the saints are posting on, and post your false accusations? Let's not be hypocritical.
John 9:34-38
34 They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.
35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?
36 He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him?
37 And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.
38 And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.
Lord, I believe.
Well the poster might try to get away with this, having broken it big time.

Here's my application, may I be of the Elect!
Do not suppose that abuses may be eliminated by destroying the object which is abused. Man may go wrong with wine and women. Do we then prohibit and abolish women? --Luther (the beer drinking Reformer...)

Can you affirm that you are a Calvinist? If so, you are included.
BTW: A quote from Luther is most welcome.

Oh yes. I am a Calvinist, and have covenant theology too. Ask RNmomof7. Been a lurker and sometime poster here for years. If Luther had lived longer I think he would have become a Calvinist too (on on the will's inability, surely by today's definition he was...)and like I believe of all the saint's victorious....is one now!

I'll have to try to get myself one of these OP hynmnals. The Baptist Hymnal just doesn't have anything comparable. 509 posted on 12/13/2003 10:17:28 AM PST by George W. BushGreat Commission Publications of Atlanta, Georgia, if you're interested.
I think you'd very much like the melody, also... the first and third sections of each Verse (e.g., "Stand Up" and "His Justice" in the opening verse) are quite simple, virtually a straightfoward steadily-rising bi-tonal military cadence -- although falling in tone at the close of the first section ("bound for destruction, doomed to die"); while falling, then rising again, at the close of the third section ("and we will sing >> AND SHOUT, For Joy!").
With your talent for writing music, George, you could almost fake these parts on your own.
Ahh, but the "bridge" -- the second section of each Verse -- there's the tricky part. "Bu-ut let The Ri-i-ighteous sing and dance"... Much more melodic, and obviously plagiarized root-and-branch from the constructions of Gregorian Chant, albeit set up-tempo a few notches to match the beat of the formation drums...
A pleasing marriage of the Spartan and the Sublime, IMO.
And yeah, you're right, GWB... it was pretty much designed as a Presbyterian Marching Hymn. I guess it shows (grin).
Best, OP
