This one is really old. It was written on the day a friend of mine died from AIDS - May 11, 1987:

Shine On

You fought hard for your
rightful place on Earth.
Then, the body gave way to
set the spirit free.

No more to feel the
wind rush against your cheek,
nor to touch the hand of
the one you loved.

Nor to hear life’s soft song
gently vibrating in your ears.
Yet, the spirit lives on
to wander among our souls.

Giving birth to inspiration,
firing warmth among the ashes,
watching wistfully,
guiding tenderly.

Making sure that
when we stumble,
we have the strength
to carry on.

And so, our spiritual friend,
although the body
weakened, your essence
burns brightly.

Long may you live
within us.
Long may we live
with you.

Why do I always get spike when it's time for a walk with a scooper??

Inquiring minds want to know!

Good morning, Bro!

(What's wrong with the picture?.... You've been infected by weirdness. It is incurable. But things looks funnier this way.)
*chuckle*

I guess I am over critical of my own writing.

Thank you (((((Wolfie))))) - you always say the nicest things.

That one is a bit rough, but was written so many years ago. I have another I'll post tomorrow that was written in 1977 - yikes!

Walking through a smokey street
Rent payers he had to meet
This working man
In a lower class town
Where mills and factories were closing down.

But as he stood and watched life be
He captured it for all to see
This working man
Who knew quite well
That life was never saved by a bell.

And whose life is it anyway
Painted beneath the skies of grey
A working man?
A very lonely man, he said
Looking at his mother's empty bed.

A moment around him seen
A life, a mill, perhaps a childhood dream?
But now the working man has gone
A mind that remained untamed
A still life that remains unframed.

Only thing I could find of Johnny Cash were mp3wav's and I don't know how to link them. Think they have to be downloaded and that takes alot of storage space...more than I have.

Did find the lyric's to a song that he and June sang on his Tribute Page and thought it may be fitting to post it here.

Johnny Cash
February 28, 1932 - September 12, 2003
Far Side Banks Of Jordan
I believe my steps are growing wearier each day,
Still I have a journey on my mind;
The wars of this old world has ceased to make me want to stay,
But my one regret is leaving you behind.

If it proves to be God's will that I am first to go,
And somehow I've a feeling it will be;
When it comes your time to travel, likewise, don't prolong,
For I will be there waiting, don't you see.

I'll be waiting on the far side banks of Jordan,
I'll be waiting, drawing pictures in the sand;
And when I see you coming I will rise up with a shout,
And come running through the shallow waters, reaching for your hand.

Through this life we've labored hard to earn our meager fare,
It brought us trembling hands and failing eyes;
I'll just rest there on the shore and wait for that glad day,
Until you join me there in paradise.

I'll be waiting on the far side banks of Jordan,
I'll be waiting, drawing pictures in the sand;
And when I see you coming I will rise up with a shout,
And come running through the shallow waters, reaching for your hand.

I'll be waiting on the far side banks of Jordan,
I'll be waiting, drawing pictures in the sand;
And when I see you coming I will rise up with a shout,
And come running through the shallow waters, reaching for your hand.

And come running through the shallow waters, reaching for your hand.

I love this!Thank you, Aqua.

I've always flet this way about my family who have gone before me, that they'd be there helping me to cross over.

Uh-oh! Wolfie's gettin' maudlin. LOL
