~The Dragon Flies Lair~
Poets | August 27, 2003 | bentfeather

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guides
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and I...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

I've inspired madness!

The Wee Wild Wynken of Blasken Nog
Rolled downhill in a hollow log
Tried to fetch a pail in a blinding fog
Silly Wee Wild Wynken of Blasken Nog
Shaved the hair off the farmer's hog
Painted polka dots on the Mayor's dog
Naughty Wild Wynken of Blasken Nog
Pulled the cotter pins from a cog
Hid full of mischief in a bog
No more Wild Wynken of Blasken Nog

In the valleys deep and wide
doth the spirit of the giants abide
through the canyons in the hallows
deep and dark and echoing shallows
ancient sounds in agony
searching the winds to be set free
haunting dales and glens at night
misting ground and sky alike
spooking wolves and eagles
in flight, spirit dogs, in the wild
frightening the little child
oh be gone you haunting one
leave the child and let her run...
in the bright white morning sun
leave us now and be undone...

The Sinking of HMS Royal Oak

Like a sleeping giant the Royal Oak lay,
When the U-47 Submarine struck,
Three `eels' were fired two lost their way,
But with one there was some luck.

It hit Royal Oaks anchor cable,
Though it hardly left a mark,
Her shaded anchor lights still burned,
Faintly in the dark.

Flood number five from number one,
Open the outer door; she's ready!
`Los'; number five; fired from the stern,
The line of travel steady.

Close outer door! Tube is secured,
The fourth 'eel' is on its way.
But only a spiral of spurting sea,
Was visible through the spray.

"Reload the tubes," Priens order came,
"Prepare another `fan' of three,"
Down came the chain hoist from above,
As the Sub ploughed through the sea.

"Attack" the order turned the bows,
towards the sleeping ship,
Endrass bent over the optic aim,
Felt the Submarine turn and dip.

Doors reopened, the eels jumped out,
Three torpedoes from the bow,
Towards the Royal Oaks starboard side,
That were closing faster now.

The great ship shuddered, lifted up,
Then she gently settled back,
Lights flickered out, fans stopped running,
All power she did lack!

Across the decks the water flowed,
And a sheet of orange flame,
Exploded beneath the starboard deck,
Impossible to restrain.

Thick black smoke rose o'er the port,
Bulkheads shuddered and cracked,
Decks caved in and swirling flames,
Rose from the cruel impact

Through doors and hatches men were blown,
From hot ladders they were flung,
In hammocks brutally devoured by fire
Their flesh from the cabin walls clung.

Her death throes over the Royal Oak,
Plunged beneath the waves,
A tomb for more than eight hundred men,
For few that day were saved.

Silently the Submarine slipped,
Out to the ocean deep,
Leaving Scapa Flow and the Royal Oak,
To the nightmares of their sleep.

Lest We Forget the 833 officers and men, who lost their lives at Scapa Bay, on 14th October, 1939.

Gettin' alonely being the, seemingly, only night wanderer awandering these parts.

Here I am, alone I sit,
wondering why I just don't fit
in the realm of normality.
I often treat it with formality.
Always wishing I could be
normal like everyone else I see.
This poetry that flows through my head
speaks loud enough to wake the dead...
And noone can hear it but me.
I wonder what it is that only I see.
So here I sit writing a while
in my characteristic style
trying to figure out
what I'm all about.
I'll leave you now to contemplate
the strangeness that is my fate.

A parody of Eddie Money - Take me home tonight

Easy Money- Shot my phone tonight

AArrgh! AAArgh!
I feel an anger, It's hung over.
It tries to keep a man awake at night.
Why did I answer? I should wonder.
Telemarketer is a parasite.
Voice over poison, you're releasing
It isn't safe to go and get the phone.
Antacids running through me.
I gotta pee and get my gun.

I can feel your fear
I can hear you talking faster....

SHOT MY PHONE TONIGHT!
I don't want to let go till I shoot on sight.
SHOT MY PHONE TONIGHT!
Easy money
Just like Johnny said, "Got my Bruno Magli's!"

I can't see in all this darkness
Got memories, I hate to speak alone.
I hear them come for me, I stubbed my toe.
To keep me sane when I shoot the phone.....

"Got my Bruno Magli's!"

Just like Johnny said.
Just like Johnny said, "Got my Bruno Magli's!"
Big starling!
I feel an anger
It's hung over....

SHOT MY PHONE TONIGHT!
I don't want to let go till I shoot on sight.
SHOT MY PHONE TONIGHT!
Easy money
Just like Johnny said, "Got my Bruno Magli's!"
SHOT MY PHONE TONIGHT!
I don't want to let go till I shoot on sight.
SHOT MY PHONE TONIGHT!
Easy money
Just like Johnny said, "Got my Bruno Magli's!"
Big starling!
SHOT MY PHONE TONIGHT!
I don't want to let go till I shoot on sight.
SHOT MY PHONE TONIGHT!
Easy money
Just like Johnny said, "Got my Bruno Magli's!"
"Got my Bruno Magli's!"

Where is Scapa Bay? How deep is the water there at the site of the sunken ship?

They always tell me to write...
Then laugh at what I've written.
Or is that me laughing at myself?
No matter, it doesn't deter me any.

So, WHERE have you been?
I hope a Darkchylde poem isn't
THAT difficult to think up.
The thread gets too quiet too
easily, you know.

Work has been in my way, plus family matters have had me tied up. I pop in and pop out. I will write it soon. It should be easy enough.
