The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…
Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
The Road Goes Ever On
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Dang. Mastodons. Just goes to show ya what vermin they are.
Little grey and brown six ton rats. No wonder they were wiped out. Rightfully so.
To: RosieCotton
I couldn't figure out whether to cry or show the cop how those things can go through a car door, especially one with a big shield painted on the side of it ;-)

Dang... but a couple of years ago I got a really *really* good deal on about a zillion icicle lights. *humming*
*tapping fingers*
Ah Ramius, have you thought of a *different* scheme maybe for next year? I dunno, maybe a lot of blue lights? Chicks in the Hobbit Hole seem to dig it.
To: Wneighbor
Yeah, he's a real stinker at times. Fiona does bad stuff too, but not out of spite.
On the other hand, he's one of the most loveable, interesting, loyal cats I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. If I HAD to pick only one of my gang, he'd probably be the one I'd be left with. I got him a few months after I got out of the military...I'd wanted a Siamese all my life, and I finally got my chance!

thinking about mastodons and stuff.See there, it's those blasted mastadons again! Get that atlatl!
To: RosieCotton
Yep, much as I fuss about Smeagol I will be very lonesome if Myranda takes her. Mind you, she drives me nuts. But, if she leaves what excuse will I have?
To: RosieCotton
So do you have a tree of your own, Rosie?
We're getting a cedar one, I guess, I hope fairly small.
Cedars are like vermin too, they are everywhere, so it's a mitzvah to chop one down for a Christmas tree.

mwah-ha-ha-ha-ha!
To: Wneighbor
Heh...felt the need to make it up to Tam for all the bad stuff I just said about him. Called him (he comes to his name, as does Halvah), and he's now on the desk getting his head rubbed, and with his motor goin'...
To: Wneighbor
Yeah, sure... but by *next* year blue lights will be out of fashion and something *else* will be cool.
How about big huge LED programmable displays?
To: Wneighbor
"did i at least make you laugh?" Gracias, yes.

I'm thinkin' those will ALWAYS be tacky.
To: Sam Cree
I love cedars Sam! They are my favorite Christmas tree!
To: Ramius
If you can make LED displays out of Christmas tree lights, go for it!

but by *next* year blue lights will be out of fashion and something *else* will be cool.Maybe for you - but I have like blue lights only since I was a small child... and that is a long time you know.
To: Wneighbor
We have blue lights. Daughter put 'em up, in high school, she wanted lights, Jewish or no, they are on the palm trees.
We just unplug the things most of the year, they never come down, and plug them back in around now.

Heh...look at it this way: that strand of lights won't be cheering up anyone else's Christmas.

Back in a bit. I've got my class working away. I'm going to the north patio to bask in the 70 degree night air! MMMmmmm warm night!
To: Wneighbor
I did get the mixed color lights instead of the all white lights.
To: Sam Cree
You can kill a mastodon with one.One of my favorite scenes in the book Footfall (by Niven & Pournelle) is the one where the African tribesman uses a thrown spear to kill one of the elephant-like aliens. :)
