One of my favorite scenes in the book Footfall (by Niven & Pournelle) is the one where the African tribesman uses a thrown spear to kill one of the elephant-like aliens. :)

I've forgotten that, thanks for mentioning it.
But Footfall is one of my favorite Niven books, maybe this is a good time to get the thing out and read it again.
I'm going to go look and see if I can find it.
