You might like them. They're by Orson Scott Card. "Ender's Game" is first, and "Speaker" is the (very very different) sequel-ish book.

And as I've always believed, there are only SF fans, and those who don't yet know they are fans.

I may ask you later to remind me of the names of these. ;-) I just checked the library where I work, and there's ONE copy, but it's at another college (I can get books from anywhere within the 5 state colleges' system), and is checked out right now.

Sam also posted an excerpt from an author that sounded interesting. Not mystery or science fiction...more "great American novel" sort of stuff. I'd like to track those books down, too. I'll have to bug him for the author's name.

Well, if you want suggestions... there are many many great authors out there.

And since you like mysteries, you have read Ellis Peter's "Brother Cadfael" series, yes?

Some of them, yes. Some of them get a little out there for me...but the earlier ones are very good.

Well... I think I'm going to bed. Got quite a lot more done today than I'd hoped, so good.

See you tomorrow!

I need to get to bed, too. Just had one slice of the fresh bread and played a couple more tunes on the banjo, in case my fingers were starting to get un-sore...

See you tomorrow!

Hi Suzi - I am pretty sure I saw your son at GREs.

Cool! I didn't get the chance to tell him to look for you because SSQ took my computer and desk apart on Friday night to move things around. He just got it put back together this evening.

I'll have to e-mail him to see what he thought about the test. When I talked to him last week, he was just run ragged by stuff that was due for his classes. You will probably end up doing well on it. When do you get the results?

And, what Spawn of Satan put me on the mailing list for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee? I got a letter from the Impeached Rapist

I got a fundraising letter from Planned Parenthood a few weeks ago!! I took a red pen out and began blasting their charges of Republicans trying to drag women back into the days of back alley abortions, etc. I had planned to send it back to them in their postage paid envelope, but I frankly don't remember if I did or not! When I was cleaning off my desk the other day I didn't find it under the myriad piles, so I might have. How in the world I ever got on THEIR mailing list, I'll NEVER know!

Mysteries are a different story...those are what I usually what I read when I'm not attempting anything serious.

Have you read Ellis Peters' "Brother Cadfael Mysteries"? I enjoyed them all. I think there is only one that I have not read because our library didn't have it. I'll have to look at the list to see which one it is.

Well I may as well just go ahead and funkle! Then I'm going to bed. We have another builder coming by at 8 in the morning to discuss the remodel.

Night all!

Hi Suzi! About the GREs - I'll get my results in, oh, six weeks. Ugh. I hope your son did well, but I sure felt overwhelmed.

Agh, it's Monday again. No fair.

Good morning. If it is a good morning. Which I doubt.
