The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…
Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
The Road Goes Ever On
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

hehehe... Perhaps you could. But they are still *my* rocks.
I dig... granite. Big blocks-o-granite. It's gonna be sweet. You have to understand... I sooo wanted this contractor to do my bulkhead, and I really did NOT want the usual concrete stuff. I don't like concrete. I like rock. This guy does really nice work, and it will be sooo much better in granite rocks than just some stinkin' concrete. This guy, however, *only* works in rock and doesn't bid concrete jobs.
He's very proud of their sales-motto that they make "the most expensive bulkheads on Puget Sound". However... the funny thing is that the concrete bids we got were even more than his bid for rock. So... not only will it be the best looking, it is the best bargain too.
Concrete contractors only warrant their work for 20 years. This one will have a 100-year warranty.

Plot? We need one of those? Well...at least a subject!
Besides the pawn shop, of course.

Ok... I think there was a hiccup in the system there!
I've got a plot. Sorta. What have you got, other than the pawnshop?

Ok... I think there was a hiccup in the system there! I think yer cat is sittin' on the keyboard again.

Nothing.
Hence...I'm a little worried.
Thought I might work a small town in there somewhere. Give me plenty of room for pages and pages of descriptions.
And just to keep it convoluted, I might stick a time warp or dimensional door in there somewhere.
Other than that...I dunno!
Cheese...think cheese...

I think I'm going to bed. My back is hurting...can't figure why, but a soak in the tub didn't help. I gotta take a Pepcid AC for the Wolf Brand I ate or else I'll be back in here at 3am.
So, good night folks.

Hmmm... here's a name for you, "Marcel Proust". French author, writer of probably the most time-consuming waste of spaces ever printed. Read about two pages of one of his 'books' and see what you get out of it.
How about throwing in a Hobbit Hole?

I like the way that bulkhead sounds. Granite will be much more esthetically appealing than concrete! My paternal grandfather was a contractor who did a lot of seawall work down on the Texas coast. He liked working in rock better as well. I can still find places where I remember he did the work when I was a kid. Pretty cool.
Interesting too, if done correctly the rock will last much longer than the concrete. And always look better.

Bread is out of the oven...as soon as it's cooled enough for me to eat one slice, I'm gonna have that and then go to bed.
Smells realllly good. Didn't rise as much as last batch, but then, it has rye flour in it, so I wouldn't expect it to.

G'nite. :-)
Got eggs?

So, uh, if you post too soon you'll really show us up!! EEEK!Well, there's progress on that front. My Flat Frodo at Yellowstone pictures are finally on MY computer. I just have to do the 'story' and post it. I'll see if I can do it tomorrow or Wed.
When our #1 son was home, he transferred the pictures from SSQ's laptop. He's anxious to see how the pictures look on the website. He went looking for it, but didn't have the right address for it. I'll point him in the right direction when I get the pictures up there. He had a great time helping me set Frodo up at Yellowstone.
