The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…
Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
The Road Goes Ever On
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Heh, I saw that when I was saving off thread 2... I haven't started doing the counts for that one yet, but I'll make a note! ;)

Wow, Bear that is so very cool! I am impressed. For the eventual searchable database, were you thinking of a web-based one? If so, I'd be glad to host it at The Hobbit Hole.
To: Bear_in_RoseBear; HairOfTheDog
I like knowitalls.
Some interesting reading on those old threads. I see destructor was there early on after the first movie.

Thanks, but the real work is still to be done!
Yes, was thinking of a web-based database, but I may have to teach myself some new skills to get that up and running! Does your hosting service allow MySQL databases? Or is it based on a Windows server...?
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
Yes, the host has SQL - the forum and the chat both run on that. Only 2 databases come with the hosting package though, so I may need to upgrade in order to add another one. We'll worry about that when the time comes, though.
The thread is dead, once again.
I'm headed home. See you all later!

Yes, we have a lot of time to worry about it! ;)

Who's dead?
Certainly not this thread. Lots of neat stuff here!

Adios!

Oh, I meant to thank you for posting this recipe, LSA! It looks marvelous.
Incidentally, we used to make some very similar cookies when I was little. We called 'em ranger cookies. Hm...perhaps these are the Dunedain equivalent of lembas? ;)

Hi! We missed ya today.
Saw your note about having to load all the computers for the fall...at the college where I work, that's our job (IT)...we have a LOT to do in the next two weeks. It's been relatively quiet this summer, but things are about to become very hectic. Hoo-boy...
To: RosieCotton
Well, I work at the smallest campus of my college. Theoretically, we have an IT support guy who is supposed to be on our campus one day a week. I haven't seen him since last winter. heh. Guess who that leaves to take care of my lab. I hate this part of my job.

Wish I could help ya out! Ours shouldn't be too bad since for the PCs, we load one computer from each lab with the software that classroom needs, then just copy that image to the rest.
The Macs are another story, unfortunately. We're still trying to find a way to make them easier, but so far it's been piece by piece with those. Luckily we have a bunch of work-study students to do most of the tedious stuff. Poor kids!
To: RosieCotton
Heh, got a laugh for you now. I made gumbo out of some fresh stuff I had. Set my bowl on my desk beside me to cool. Typing with away with the keyboard in my lap, doused the gumbo liberally with tabasco, reached over for the bowl and spoon to take a bite and it seems all the tabasco just filled up my spoon! Whew! good tasting but wow.
