The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…
Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
The Road Goes Ever On
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Actually... things have been a little slow lately.
Wenches seem to be at an ebb in the tide just now. But darn it, if the minute I started typing this, the local wench quotient went up noticably.

Huh?

Hey, did you read where he was saying he has 2 extra knives to sell to Hobbit Hole Dwellers?Sorry, WN, but all of the knives are now spoken for. If somebody still wants one, I'll have to buy in smaller quantities, which means prices at the dealer's end go up.
For a quantity of one, it would be $19, plus $6.95 (call it $7) shipping, to get it to me. Then $8 for laser etching, and about $5 for USPS priority mail to you. That's $39, instead of the $32 it cost when we were dealing in larger quantities.
The cost drops to $17 per three, and the per-unit shipping cost remains the same $7. That would reduce the per-knife cost to about $35.
Just some information for latecomers.

Lord help me, I'm gonna have a heart attack.
You know our clothes dryer is not working good? It nicks our knits...tears little holes in them for some reason. Anyway, we can dry towels and heavy items like jeans in the dryer but not our knit shirts and such.
Well, Steve is driving me crazy with this, I swear, I'm gonna have a stroke or something.
He washes a pair of shorts with a TISSUE in them in the washer with all our knits. So that means they are covered with tiny bits of tissue that will just stick to the shirts out on the line. They'd dry and come off in the dryer (which is what he's used to) but not on the line. One of the shirts was the one Matthew is going to wear to the doctor in the morning! Argh! I'll have to sit and scrape off the bits of tissue in the morning.
Sigh...I am going to soak in the tub. BRB.

ROFLOL!! No!
Think I'll just leap out of the closet at him tomorrow evening after he gets out of the tub. LOL!! That's always pretty funny...he walks out of the bathroom with his towel wrapped around him, comes in the bedroom, shuts the door to get dressed and "AAARRRGHHHHH!" I leap screaming out of the closet!
I get a chuckle just thinking about it. It's been a long time since I've done it. He won't suspect a thing.

Sure thing. This came from our local paper when they ran the cookie recipes from the 2000 presidential candidates wives; naturally tipper's recipe wasn't worth saving :-). This recipe makes a huge amount of cookies, since I don't Texas-size 'em, I just drop them from teaspoons, bake about 12-14 minutes. Here's the recipe
Texas Governor's Mansion Cowboy Cookies
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 Tablespoon baking powder
1 Tablespoon baking soda
1 Tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups (3 sticks) butter, at room temperature
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 1/2 cups packed light brown sugar
3 eggs
1 Tablespoon vanilla
3 cups semisweet chocolate chips
3 cups old-fashed rolled oats
2 cups sweetened flake coconut
2 cups chopped pecans
Heat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and salt in a bowl.
In 8-quart bowl, beat butter on medium speed until smooth and creamy, 1 minute. Gradually beat in sugars, beat to combine, 2 minutes.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each. Beat in vanilla.
Stir in flour mixture until just combined. Add chocolate chips, oats, coconut and pecans.
For each cookie, drop 1/4 cup dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing 3 inches apart.
Bake in 350 degree oven 17 to 29 minutes, until edges are lightly browned, rotate sheets halfway through. Remove cookies from baking sheets to cool.
Enjoy! LS Aggie

He washes a pair of shorts with a TISSUE in them in the washer with all our knits.Argh!! I hate when that happens. I am paranoid these days about checking ALL pockets to make sure there are no tissues in them.
Do you have a lint brush? That should make the job go quicker!
