The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…

Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

The Road Goes Ever On…

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Yes, I agree about Trib7. I think he is sorry he's been twisted from lovely to orcish.

The ring had nothing to do with Morgoth twisting you and your ancestors into an orc though.

Yes, but he asked me to twist everyone's comments and in general harrass everyone in his absence. I am trying to do a good job of it.

Excuse me a moment while I vent. Were you here the other day when the discussion was all about phrases that we use around here? "cow eating cabbage" etc.

Well can I just say as I grading final exams here that I keep getting to this one - and the phrase that keeps jumping in my mind is "dumb as a box of rocks!"

Magic is...
poetry stealing its way across
the mind in the night
weaving words very tight
to make them rhyme
make them write
Poetry is the Magic of the night...

My sister is notorious for mixing up those phrases. Her most famous is 'I didn't just fall in the cabbage patch yesterday.' lol

The test was easy.

Very.

So, the comment had a real reason. Note I said I keep coming to ONE exam.

My mom is the same way. Then again, English is her second language, so she gets mixed up a bit. :)

I like that.

This one student..... I don't even think she could tell the turnips from the cabbage or the wagon from a patch. It's that bad.

*PRESS RELEASE*

FREE REPUBLIC – Idle chit-chat succeeded today in accomplishing what no Thermobaric Bomb ^ could destroy. The third and largest of the Hobbit Hole threads imploded under it's own weight Monday, reaching the unsurpassable 16-bit limit of 65,535 posts. The Hobbit Hole is the first thread at Free Republic to reach such a length in the history of the forum.

The actual implosion was a quiet affair, with only friends and close family in attendance. When a reply was attempted to the last post on the thread, made at 9:33 pacific time on August 8, the following message appeared:

Congratulations, you guys filled it up. :-)
Okay

After a 10-minute period of silence.... a new Hobbit Hole was posted ( The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On… ) at 9:43, and the dwellers there continued chatting on as if none of it had ever happened.

Previous press releases: 14 posted on 12/17/2002

Your mom has an excuse.

It was funny when I was in Venezuela trying to figure out their little phrases like that.

I dunno, "What chicken gizzards" just didn't register with me. LOL But I loved it and now Myranda and I still use the phrase! I even have the T-shirt!

I thank you so much for the Greeting.

I am a java drinker
by the gallon
but I am willing
to put my feet up
and drink it like a felon
You must know, I don't
do melons..,
Heaven knows I am no
felon
just love java and jazz
and poetry rhyming.
And dancing with a good poet...:-)
