The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…

Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

The Road Goes Ever On…

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I'll check in every so often, but I ain't goin' to stick around and moan and gripe and depress the place up.

That hasn't stopped the rest of us.

Seriesly, we're all dealing with the crap in our lives Scott. If you need to moan and gripe this is the place you should be.

Tonight wouldn't work...and you know I'm saving myself for the extended edition TTT.

We've decided we aren't going to spoil it for November by seeing it too much before. We want it to be like new again, when the EE comes, so we can make a big event out of it.

Yes, I have seen that many people here have some really nasty problems they are dealing with.

But my problem with my problem is that my attitude is bad. And a bad attitude should not be passed around too much.

Your bad attitude will not harm us! We are like Tom Bombadil. We will sing your dark heart into submission!

"‘What?’ shouted Tom Bombadil, leaping up in the air. ‘Old Man Willow? Naught worse than that, eh? That can soon be mended. I know the tune for him. Old grey Willow-man! I’ll freeze his marrow cold, if he don’t behave himself. I’ll sing his roots off. "

Hop along, my little friends, up the Withywindle!
Tom’s going on ahead candles for to kindle.
Down west sinks the Sun: soon you will be groping.
When the night-shadows fall, then the door will open,
Out of the window-panes light will twinkle yellow.
Fear no alder black! Heed no hoary willow!
Fear neither root nor bough! Tom goes on before you.
Hey now! merry dot! We’ll be waiting for you!

OK - If you want to save yourself for some future movie I understand...

But if you want to change your mind, you know where it will be playing.

Sonya and I were laughing yesterday thinking about your wife's priceless expression the first time Sonya shhhhhhed her during the baseball game!

And as for Tim.... You know - we talked about you and he said "I had no idea he was that good.... We can't probably afford him". Something to keep in mind... That is what they were thinking about you..... if you want to be flexible about price.

Hi there.

What's up this morning? Workplace treating you better than it did last week? Mine is back to humdrum routine! I need to go back to engineering. It was much more fun.

Glad you like my artwork.

(and that's only half of it)

Hah! Flexible -- I've been applying for jobs that pay me half what I made at the beginning of this year! I've been applying to deliver newpapers and meat in little trucks!

I've been applying for real crap jobs (part of why my attitude is bad). And I'll take them if anyone will give them to me!

I get that a lot: We won't hire you because "you're way above what we have" and "you'll leave the moment something better comes along". But the problem is there is nothing available suitable for me. So that kind of attitude on the part of employers simply isn't cutting it. Is it better to have something unsuitable or nothing at all? One way, at least, you may be miserable but you won't starve and lose everything.

And yeah, I will leave at moment's notice, it's true. After the dirt that was dealt me no one is ever getting my loyalty again. So they have the right of it. But there is absolutely nothing out there...and all the self-righteous suppostedly conservative people you see on some threads (not this one!!!) who say "why don't you stop whining about no jobs and get a job at Burger King, they're hiring" are so full of **it! You just try getting a job at Burger King with graduate degrees and 23 years of experience in senior management for huge organizations!

/rant off

Thanks for the breakfast. Prayers before I munch, for thanks giving to the nourishment of my body, and for your grandfather.

I'm going at lunch time to pick mine up. I wonder how hard it will be having it in my grubby little hands and not be able to watch it at work the rest of the day. Hmmmm. I'll find out. Or maybe I could call in sick after lunch. hmmmm?

why's it tense there?

I slid in and out of Bryan without lettin' you know to meet up with you because there was too much going on with my brother. But, I'm supposed to go back down to Bryan sometime in September to watch one of his football games. He was kinda disappointed cause this is the first summer in several years that I haven't made it down to see him play baseball so I gotta make at least 2 football games.

He wants me to come watch when Bryan plays The Woodlands. How do you feel about high school football?
