I would vote for a conservative candidate and Leader, regardless their gender, race, ethnicity, and so on. We are all equal as Americans, after all, aren't we?

I would certainly be willing to vote for a woman, prviding she met my criteria for qualifications, character, and beliefs.

"Any woman who would be any good for the job would be smart enough not to want it." That goes for most guys, too, although the Bushes and especially Ronald Reagan are notable exceptions.

We are all equal as Americans, after all, aren't we? Are we? Most women would not agree in the workplace..there are private golf clubs that will now allow women members..in a major purchase [car for example], "Is your husband with you?" It's still a man's world in the United States thru the eyes of many men especially in the "baby boomer" generation which make up a considerable amount of the votes.
Plus on the other side of the coin I believe some women would vote for a woman just becuase of her gender.
If we were ready why hasn't there been a woman by now..Oh sure they may announce their candidacy, but no one took them seriously. History speaks for itself.
Just my opinion,

I am against a woman president for the same reason Bill Clinton was such a failure. He did not have the respect of the armed forces. Bush has that respect because he was a national gueard flyer and has gone out of his way to show respect for those who serve this country. Like Bill Clinton I doubt that any woman would have this respect.

Wished it hadn't been pulled to chat as believe this is a credible question with interesting intelligent responses. As a vanity and not a published news item, this thread rightly belongs in "General Interest" aka "chat". It may be an interesting thread for discussion, but it still should have been posted in GI to begin with. There are many threads on the General Interest forum that have interesting and intelligent discussion of very credible questions and topics; so if you think that the GI forum is for off-the-wall topics and/or hairbrained conspiracy theories, then your misconceptions are limiting your FReeping experience.
For what it's worth, I would love to see Condi Rice as the republican nominee for president in 2008 and would gladly vote for her.

Unless there appeared a Maggie Thatcher on the horizon, which there is not, I cannot see myself voting for another woman for president. Among my reasons:
*The general feminization of the culture, which I do not perceive as healthy.
*PMS, pregnancy, motherhood, and menopause (yeah, yeah, I know. And I don't care if I get flamed for it.)
*The meanest bosses I ever had were all women.
*Mothers don't make good fathers.

I hope no one ever actually reads your post. There are so many offensive flaws in it, I'm shocked. To say all women would be as bad as Bill Clinton is to do a grave injustice to all the women of this country, especially the many women in our armed forces. If a woman decided to run in the near future and held the exact same views and qualifications as GW, why shouldn't she be elected?
The closest Ronald Reagan ever got to a war was he was once in a war movie. No one ever questioned his support for the armed services. Why would it be any different for a woman?

You not thinking.
If the commander-in-chief is Bill Clinton or a woman the men who are troops will not like it. The president should be a man.
As for women in the armed forced, they do not belong there, never did, that was another Bill Clinton failed experiment, like don't ask, don't tell.

OK, first of all, women were allowed in the armed services before Bill Clinton was president. Second, it's interesting that you claim to speak for every male in the United States armed forces. All I have to say is, did the British soldiers in the Falklands dislike Thatcher? Many countries with female leaders have not lost control of the armed forces. Are Americans so much less enlightened that we'll revolt if a woman is commanding the armed forces?
"You not thinking." You need edit you before you posting, me think.
