IS AMERICA READY FOR 'A WOMAN' PRESIDENT ?
June 23, 2003 | myself

Posted on 06/23/2003 4:57:05 PM PDT by fight_truth_decay

How do you really feel about a woman for President of the United States. Are men across American ready to vote into the highest office in the land, a woman? Forget Hillary for a moment [I know your answer], and work with 'any woman' for President.

I do not want to intentionally offend any woman with this question. This is not a question one ever hears discussed in the media. Recently, I asked this question to a woman and she could not give me a direct answer. "Ummm...aaaaaaaahhh...let me think on that. That's a good question," she said. Then the subject changes. This silence leads me to believe perhaps she did not; but would not state openly, especially when I added the words: Commander in Chief.

So, I ask your opinion, ladies and gentlemen of FR. When you pull that privacy curtain behind you at the polling booth and secretly mark your ballot, will you be ready to vote a woman into office as President of the United States?

Note: If I had a 'witness protection name change" service for this question I would offer it.

I am a woman, and I would vote against a female president on principle. Anyone woman who would be any good for the job would be smart enough not to want it.

Yes, I would vote for A Woman, if that woman represented what I believe, and demonstrated ability to lead. Jeanne Kirkpatrick comes to mind, although she's faded from the scene, and of course Lady Margaret Thatcher isn't available ... but an appropriate woman would have my vote.

Maybe not a "woman", but certainly a lady.

I'm with you...

A Maggie-like woman would get my vote in a heartbeat.

My observation is that probably more men would vote for a "qualified" female for President than women would. A Margeret Thatcher type might get a majority of the male vote. I will get flamed for this, but I suspect the more women who vote in a given election, the less chance a woman would have to win that election.

Due to the volatile nature of the world, special interest groups trying to turn our country effeminate, and the leadership of national women groups are RAT and in all likelihood replace Monica Lewinsky with themselves when the subject becomes Bill Clintoon, I wouldn't vote for a woman running for prez and I'm a woman.

Wished it hadn't been pulled to chat as believe this is a credible question with interesting intelligent responses. This was not meant to poke humor at the possibility of any woman becoming President of the Unites States. I think this is a very valid question..that is not spoken about openly..perhaps not PC.

By the way many of us never bother to do 'chat'..and I hate that term.

Sure, if she is qualified for the job. Someone like Condi Rice, or Margaret Thatcher.

Yes, I think so. Most of the men I know are homeschooling dads, and they're married to women who are educated, decisive, economy-minded, and pretty darn tough.

I can't be sure my dad would agree, though.

The question would be..."Would the rest of the world accept a woman as the spoksperson for the USA?" Quite frankly, I doubt it. Electing a woman might put us at even a greater disadvantage internationally than we are now...with a strong male president. JMHO!

..."Would the rest of the world accept a woman as the spoksperson for the USA?"

Just interposing my thoughts here, but the rest of the world would have no choice but to accept a female U.S. President.

Quite frankly, I doubt it. Electing a woman might put us at even a greater disadvantage internationally than we are now...with a strong male president.

How so? And how are we now at any kind of disadvantage internationally with Dubya occupying the White House?

FTD...I'd have no problem with a Conservative lady sitting in the Oval Office.
After all, Great Britain didn't do too shabby with Maggie Thatcher running the show.

Well I hate to burst your balloon but women voting for a woman is exactly the reason we have a leftist govenor in Michigan

And.......I am a woman and yes I would vote for a woman

Judges 4:4 Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, was leading Israel at that time. [5] She held court under the Palm of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim, and the Israelites came to her to have their disputes decided.

I am a woman, and i would vote for whoever best represented my views on the issues and my values.
Male or Female is not that important to me.
Margaret Thatcher is an excelent exampel of a woman i would be happy to vote for.
