Posted on 05/22/2003 7:35:32 AM PDT by jonalvy44

YES! This only illustrates the point that Americans are no longer tolerant of those that bash America!! This is awesome news! They can't just sneak back into our hearts, as much as they would like to.

Audience Boos Dixie Chicks at ACM Awards May 22, 7:05 AM EST

Many country music fans aren't ready to forgive the Dixie Chicks' Natalie Maines for comments critical of President Bush: Voters rejected the group's nominations for three Academy of Country Music Awards and the audience booed the mention of their name.

Presenter Vince Gill urged the audience at Wednesday night's show to "Stop it, stop it." He added: "You know who gets blessed when you forgive — you."

Maines has been in the country music doghouse since she told a London audience on March 10, before the start of the war in Iraq, that "we're ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas."

...

The Dixie Chicks were a late addition, performing by satellite from their hometown of Austin, Texas.

Maines sat silently as Emily Robison briefly introduced the song.

The boos erupted when Gill named the Dixie Chicks among nominees for entertainer of the year. Gill said afterward that the reaction was more subdued than at last month's Flameworthy Awards. "It was a pretty volatile crowd that time. This one wasn't so bad," he said.

It didn't seem that way to host Reba McEntire.

"It was a pretty big negative response. I don't think it's over," she said after the program.

I liked the one I heard the other day that if you take your dog out to pee and you both relieve yourself on the same bush...you might be a redneck.

My wife loved it....I am a redneck to be sure on that one. I always crown my Dobie's spots....course he'll come back and crown me over when he gets the chance...it's a male domination thing I guess.

4. You refer to soft drinks as "pop" instead of the correct term, "coke."

I can't understand this. I always liked Vince Gill. But here he adopts the elitist, "parental" tone that the libs always have, like they know what's best and nobody else does.

Strange.

Vince Gill the adulterer? haha

He only left his wife and Amy Grant, the so-called Christian singer, left her hubby...so they could be together. No respect there.

Funny the way things are. I am a big Winwood fan, lucky you! Boz Skaggs....the best.

I'd love to know about Harry Nilsson, Joe Cocker, Joe Walsh, and Ringo Starr. They are some of the most unique entertainers with a sense of humor in the industry.

As a general rule I found that most comedians are the pits. Pro wrestlers are cool(the old ones) Jerry Lawler is my hero. So was Ivan Putsky and Bugsy Magraw.

There is more to that story. Grant's hubby was the one who got hurt worst.

My downstairs bathroom has been broken for months now. Even though my wife has been screaming at me to finish fixing it, my dog and I have been enjoying the bonding schedule at 6:00am and again at 11:00pm. The calm air, quiet moments of relief.

I remember the first time I ever heard my cousins from Michigan say they wanted a "pop". Only, they pronounced it "paap", kind of like they said "caar", which sounded like it rhymed more with "fair". I thought they were from another planet. But, the biggest scandal, was that their "caar" was a Volkswagen Beetle, and my Daddy immediately pronounced them Pinko-Hippies for driving such a car. I thought he was fixin' to kick my Uncle's a55.

>>As far as I'm concerned,Ms.Maines made TWO mistakes! The first was critcizing OUR PRESIDENT while we have combat ops in progress, and the second(and most egregious)was to have done this whilst on foreign soil!!<<

Make that THREE mistakes, and counting.

I never see Winwood...he lives in a modern 9000 sq ft palace at the top of the hill....I live down in the hollow. He married a local gal. They live between here and their 11th century estate in England. He performed here 2 weeks ago but their children attend school over there.

I lived in Upper Nyack NY for a year and lived down upper Broadway from Nilsson. I hear he was quite friendly and witty and enjoyed his "cups". There was a row of old Victorian homes on the Hudson there with he and Ellen Burstyn and Helen Hayes all right together sort of. My then girlfriend taught at Barnard in the city and we had a carriage house on an old Robber Baron estate up the road by the cliffs. Harry died a few years back I think.

I use to hate Penn and Teller with a passion. Then I saw their HBO show "Bullsh!t" and I really love that show. It exposes useless stuff for what it is. Last one I watched I think was about bottled water. It's just someone else's tap water. They replaced several brands bottled water at a ritzy restaurant with water from a garden hose outside and then let customers taste test the different bottles of hose water telling them that each was a different brand of special water from different parts of the world. People actually thought each bottle tasted different and were trying to sound like the snooty wine people do. It was great.

people will not forget Maines remarks and tepid apology.

IMHO, it's the tepid apology that sunk them. Had they been genuinely apologetic it would likely have been all over a long time ago.

My dobie doesn't like it when I "trump" his mark...his hackles raise and he gets nervous but as soon as he can go again...he'll go right back over there and blot my mark out....then he relaxes and looks full of himself. The proper order in his mind. It's too funny.

He's getting old now and has never been submissive at all, he has never ever laid on his back for a belly scratch...never...will not do it. Only dog I've ever had like that. He's the real alpha male around our extended family though very well trained and obedient and ferociously protective.

What bull sh*t this is.

We have thousands of illegal aliens pouring into our country routinely, at will, as the President and his party stand in stone silence in the face of this ever escalating epic attack on our borders and our sovereignty.

But if a stupid celebrity says something bad about the President, or their party, the Republicans are outraged..

This is so damn pathetic, and should be a real eye opener to anyone with a brain.
