"NATALIE MAINES:
we support the troops"
Sorry, you cannot "Support the troops" without supporting the Commander-In-Chief. You are either lying, or very uneducated about the U.S. form of government.

We see here again the standard reaction of the anti-war(anti-American)celebs.
They do have the right to say what ever they choose. They just need to understand that if they feel that strongly about the issue, they should have the fortitude to accept the consequenses.
These things don't come free.
To: Pro-Bush
The arrogance of these bints...yes, Natalie, President Bush will CERTAINLY check to see that ALL of your questions are answered before he makes anymore foreign or domestic decisions. Sheesh!

it's going to blow over in three days." And I looked at him and I go, "No, it's not." He goes "Yes, it is, yes. Don't worry about it." You know, giving the old manager spiel. And I said, "Oh, I don't think so." I have this feeling that this part of the conversation between their manager and Natalie Maines happened, in fact, in reverse. I think Natalie was the one saying (or "going" as that eloquent international policy expert Natalie puts it), "This will all blow over over soon....".

MAINES: You know we didn't walk off that stage going, oh my God, oh my God, I can't believe I said that. She didn't apologize. Sawyer might as well have been interviewing Clinton.
Sorry Maines - people aren't stupid anymore. Prepare for your CDs to be sold in the Kmart $1.99 discount bin.

I really don't know if this interview will put the issue to rest.
As far as I am concern, the Dixie Chicks ruined their music with the anti-Bush comments and their subsequent defiant explanations.
Every time I hear them by accident, such as on the radio, I do not enjoy their songs anymore.
The mystique is gone.
Listening to the DC feels like being force-fed an unappealing meal.

And then he says, you know, he gets off the phone and I was like, "What? What happened?" Sheesh........if I had time this morning I'd count up how many "you knows" and "I was like" in this article. What a bimbo. I mean, two in just one sentence.

Their record sales have been not hurt at all. Its all been a pack of lies. Why did they even do this interview ?.....
My source ? Michael Moore..
Here's a snippet taken directly from his website:
They have not been hurt at all -- but that is not what the media would have you believe. Why is that? Because there is nothing more important now than to keep the voices of dissent -- and those who would dare to ask a question -- SILENT. And what better way than to try and take a few well-known entertainers down with a pack of lies so that the average Joe or Jane gets the message loud and clear:

The ONLY THING the Chixie Dicks are sorry about is that they've been called on the carpet about this, feel forced to apologize and most importantly because their sales and ratings are down.
They aren't sorry about bashing their President while overseas in another country. Plus, they are cowards. If they have something to say, have the guts to say it at home.

Memo to Natalie Maines learn to think before you speak and do not just spout off with comments that are really going to irritate a majority of your fans if you ever get any fans again which I personally hope no one listens to your disgusting wailing.

They just keep digging themselves deeper into that hole. From the snippet that Drudge printed, their "damage control" moved them down in the hole another dozen feet or so.
They just don't "get" it. Let's hope the base holds and no one forgets...

The bigmouth said "we are ashamed," not "I am ashamed." I have not heard the other two disavowing the statement or quitting the band or doing anything like that. Eases my mind a bit that they are all in it together and suffering together. I hope nobody watches the special, I sure won't.

"The manager thinks it'll blow over, but the light bulb goes on over Maines' head?"
Good catch. I agree.

It's actually not falling off the charts... Although their album dropped on the National 100 (according to Billboard), their album went from #2 to #1 on the country chart. Go figure... I guess that means that even though their album sales dropped, others' dropped even more drastically.
I don't understand who's buying this, unless it's backlash from libs, though I can't believe there are enough of them to make an impact
To: Pro-Bush
I don't know why this is still news. Of course they pissed people off, and rightly so. But I mean, they're just a pop-country girl group -- they're not journalists, they're not politicians, they're not even as "influential", for lack of a better term, as some of the prominent Hollywood types who've done and said the same and worse. I'm all for people boycotting their music, but all this continued attention and demand for atonement seems overblown at this point, IMO. Frankly, it's starting to remind me of the Lott Affair, only much sillier.
