Well, I am SHOCKED to learn that alcohol was involved the incident...

The congressman should know that staffers should pre-arrange any potential trysts: what a doofus.

Mama will not be a happy camper today.

I have a box of drawings headed your way. My son's school is having a "Support our troops" drive, so I dropped off all of the stuff I purchased at Walmart. They are taking it to Ft. Bliss this weekend.

I'm so proud of my son. He told everyone that his drawings have been going to the "good guys fighting Saddam" and encouraged the other children in his class to draw some pictures too. I didn't even ask him to do this--he did it on his own. Not bad for a 6yr old. =)

Thanks for the pix Lodwick. And yes Pippin she knows I love our president. All of my family in California are flaming librals, or so they think. They are not active in politics and only belive what they hear on the TV. This sister has had a long history of personal problems and hangs out with the "Bush didn't win" crowd. I think it makes her feel like a big fish in a small pound.
Yesterday she told me President Bush had cut VA funding down to the bare essentials that vets returning home would not be able to afford toilet paper. Now keep in mind I am a Marine wife of 14 years and live here near DC and Quantico. I think I know about military benifits. I fired back with details and she backed off and admitted I know more about military life than her. I think the RATS are desprate and are filling these folks up with misinformation. Geesh!

Below is a letter received by the parent of Corporal Joshua Miles from the 3d Battalion, 2nd Marines. This simple Poem says a lot. Please pass it on.

A Parent of a Marine in the 1st Battalion 4th Marines...... oorah.

We got a letter from Josh today, if you could call it that, written 3/9. They are hearing about the anti-war protests and he was upset. That' s all the letter talked about. He enclosed a poem he and his buddies wrote. He wants us to get it out, let people see how they feel.

"Wish You Were Here"

For all the free people that still protest. You're welcome. We protect you and you are protected by the best.

Your voice is strong and loud, but who will fight for you? No one standing in your crowd.

We are your fathers, brothers, and sons, wearing the boots and carrying guns.

We are the ones that leave all we own, to make sure your future is carved in stone.

We are the ones who fight and die, We might not be able to save the world, Well, at least we try.

We walked the paths to where we are at and we want no choice other than that.

So when you rally your group to complain, take a look in the back of your brain.

In order for that flag you love to fly wars must be fought and young men must die.

We came here to fight for the ones we hold dear. If that's not respected, we would rather stay here.

So please stop yelling, put down your signs, and pray for those behind enemy lines.

When the conflict is over and all is well, be thankful that we chose to go through hell.

Corporal Joshua Miles and all the boys from 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines, Kuwait

Hubby sends me stuff from the front lines all the time. He is still in contact with Marines as his old unit was 11th Marines and the 1 MEF. These are the guys that are out there right now.
Now that my daughter has moved into her own place I hope to have more time to spend with all of you.

Rashonda? The news has her listed, consistently, as Shoshana, and on Dateline show parents refer to her Shawna. I pray for her daily. Those frightened eyes of hers shown on alJezeera were heartbreaking. Her parents are lovely people, her dad's a Gulf 1 vet originally from Panama but now has hardly a trace of Spanish accent. Her mom works as civilian at Ft. Bliss, her sister is an Army captain. One can only imagine what those good people are going through.

If anyone has her address, I'd love to send them a nice living, flowering plant.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Eight of the bodies found during the rescue of an American POW in Iraq this week were members of her ambushed Army maintenance unit, the Pentagon announced Saturday. The eight soldiers were with Pfc. Jessica Lynch when their unit, the 507th Maintenance Company, was ambushed near Nasiriyah on March 23.

The U.S. commandos who freed Lynch from a hospital in Nasiriyah this week also found 11 bodies, nine of which were believed to be those of Americans. The nine bodies had been returned to a forensics center at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware for identification and investigation of how they died. The Pentagon issued a statement early Saturday morning saying the status of the eight soldiers had been changed from missing to killed.

The soldiers were:

Sgt. George E. Buggs, 31, of Barnwell, S.C.
Master Sgt. Robert J. Dowdy, 38, of Cleveland.
Pvt. Ruben Estrella-Soto, 18, of El Paso, Texas.
Spc. James M. Kiehl, 22, of Comfort, Texas.
Chief Warrant Officer Johnny Villareal Mata, 35, of Amarillo, Texas.
Pfc. Lori Ann Piestewa, 23, of Tuba City, Ariz.
Pvt. Brandon U. Sloan, 19, of Cleveland.
Sgt. Donald R. Walters, 33, of Kansas City, Mo.

All were members of the 507th Maintenance, an army unit based at Fort Bliss, Texas. thread
