BB King was just asked about political comments during the war and he said "I think that there are going to be alot of things said tonight that I don't agree with."

Way to go B.B!

They both have one record apiece. I'll take a singer songwriter anyday over a cover song singer. Talent is there with both of them.

Nora "Hootie" Jones has some headroom to push out units tommorow at 18.95. I give here 2 years...

What's with the Debdie Harry bashing? Love that women. I bet Faith "Chicken Neck" Hill will look like hell when she nears Debbie's age.

he seemed drunk ..but I think he was 'off' in some sort of way. could be that he (the great and powerful actor) was sulking because he was not allowed to do what he wanted

True that! I completely forgot. THAT would have made the most sense....Dustin Hoffman introducing them, S and G reunited.....and they could have broken into "Mrs. Robinson." That would have fired the crowd up. A classic moment, with Dustin there. ....Ah, but it wouldn't have had the import (phony, pretentious, faux import) of what would be interpreted as a classic 60's anti-establishment song.

They will play the winners more often on the radio for the next couple weeks. That is too bad because I especially don't want to hear anymore John Mayer. Maybe the guy is a good guitar player (so i've heard), but he sorely needs to get a songwriter (or fire the one he has). His lyrics are just cheesy and dumb. At least Dave Matthews lyrics are mostly vague, and not as overtly stupid.

And originally Blue Note was giving away Norahs CD at $6.95 for months before it caught fire, so the sales figures can be misleading

I am WAY behind on this thread, but since everybody is listing their concerts, mine are:

Gordon Lightfoot; Peter Paul and Mary; BeeGees; America; Emerson, Lake and Palmer; Steve Miller; Fleetwood Mac (x3); Nils Lofgren; Marshall Tucker Band; Eagles; Blue Oyster Cult; One concert: George Thoroughgood and the Destroyers, Heart and Rolling Stones (I won tickets to that concert while living here in Tucson, but concert up in Boulder, CO); James Taylor; Journey; Bob Seger; Huey Lewis and the News; Bangles; Meatloaf; Ringo Starr and his All-Star Band; Moody Blues.

I just know I'm leaving some out. Regrets at not being able to see for various reasons: Elton John in his heyday. We also had tickets once to see Dan Fogelberg and it was cancelled--no raincheck.

Many of the concerts were at Milwaukee's Summerfest. Still love it. I'm not counting the Britney Spears performance that my daughter wanted to see a couple years ago. Thankfully daughter has moved on from Britney. However, she is now a Sheryl Crow fan. LOL Oh, and acts at Summerfest like the Turtles, which are still fun to watch.

In the old days of the music biz, a good song would become a standard and everybody would record it that year.

Its theme is man's inability to communicate with man. The author sees the extent of communication as it is on only its most superficial and "commercial" level (of which the "neon sign" is representative). There is no serious understanding because there is no serious communication - "people talking without speaking - hearing without listening". No one dares take the risk of reaching out ("take my arms that I might reach you") to disturb the sound of silence. The poet's attempts are equally futile (" . . . but my words like silent raindrops fell within the wells of silence"). The ending is an enigma. I find my own meaning in it, but like most good works, it is best interpreted by each person individually. The words tell us that when meaningful communication fails, the only sound is silence.

...sounds like it was reviewed by Cosmo Kramer.
