The Guild 2-21-2003--The Anti Americans LOVED Clinton's Wars!
Best of the Web Today ^ | 2/21/03 | James Taranto

Susan Sontag has become the poster girl of anti-war protests among the intelligensia. But now a piece she wrote in 1999 about the Kosovo conflict has come to light...and it shows the blatant hypocracy of today's libs.

WHY ARE WE IN KOSOVO?" by Susan Sontag, May 2, 1999

She deplores Europe's inaction "in the face of all this irrational slaughter and suffering," and observes: "Of course, it is easy to turn your eyes from what is happening if it is not happening to you."

In answer to the placards at antiwar demonstrations, she says: "For Peace. Against War. Who is not? But how can you stop those bent on genocide without making war?"

She argues that a dictator need not pose an immediate threat to those outside his borders to justify taking action against him: "Imagine that Nazi Germany had had no expansionist ambitions but had simply made it a policy in the late 1930's and early 1940's to slaughter all the German Jews. Do we think a government has the right to do whatever it wants on its own territory? Maybe the governments of Europe would have said that 60 years ago. But would we approve now of their decision?"

In other words, she used every single argument being used today TO SUPPORT WAR in Iraq. Of course, they saw Kosovo as a "humanitarian war", not one where we greedy Americans were just protecting our own national interests (God forbid!). This needs to be seen far and wide as a perfect example of the libs' real agenda: pulling down Bush.

Sontag must be an incredible bowser if as talented a photographer as Annie Liebovitz couldn't make her look any better than that!

Excellent commentary by Jack Straw, 'I joined the peace protesters in the Sixties. Believe me, this is different'

It seems to me there are three main arguments. One is to argue that the Iraqi regime does not possess any weapons of mass destruction. The second is that Iraq is not the only regime possessing these terrible weapons. The third is that Saddam Hussein can be permanently contained by inspection.

He deals with each in fine fashion.

Yeah, I thought maybe since Tiger was 2 OVER and Stewart was 2 UNDER that ABC might have.......

whatamIsaying?!

He had some sinus surgery in December....hope he's about to get back on his game. He hasn't qualified for Masters or US Open this year. It's the first time we won't be rooting for him.....unless he wins a couple of tourneys before then, of course. Always optimistic!

AWWWW, the little heart transplant girl has died. Sad story.

GAG alert!

BILL CLINTON, STARS, TURN OUT FOR BONO (Fox link)

The second night of the long Grammy weekend was almost as good as the first. The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences MusicCares dinner honored U2 singer Bono...

Clinton — looking exceptionally tanned and rested — came to present Bono with the Person of the Year award. The crowd went wild for Clinton, too.

Echoing the anti-war theme of the night, Clinton said: "If you immediately think it's us versus them, then this will not be a world for your children to grow up in."

Bono told the crowd, among other things: "The war against terrorism is bound up in the war on poverty." At one point he declared: "I don't want to die stupid."

Sigh. That Clinton..."If you immediately think it's us vs them....". Gotta admit, that's what I immediately thought at 9:15 AM, September 11, 2001.

But at least he's consistent. He flaps his gums, mouths platitudes, and can still deny he made an antiwar statement.

He'd better hope he doesn't die today.

Oh my, how did I miss this part? Rested? From what? The piece of crap hasn't worked a day in his life, let alone the 2+ years since he left the White House.

One day shortly after the birth of their new baby, the mother had to go
out to do some errands. So the proud papa stayed home to watch his
wonderful new son.

Soon after the mother left, the baby started to cry. The father did
everything he could think of to do but the baby wouldn't stop crying.

Finally, the dad got so worried he decided to take the infant to the
doctor.

After the doctor listened to the father all that he had done to get the
baby to stop crying, the doctor began to examine the baby's ears, chest
and then down to the diaper area.

When he undid the diaper, he found that the diaper was indeed full.

"Here's the problem", the Dr. said, "He needs a change."

The father was very perplexed, "But the diaper package says it is good
for up to 10 lbs.!"

Looks like we have to go live tomorrow night for the Grammy's. I am sure the finest minds in foreign affairs and world peace will be lecturing to us all night.

I must mock them.

The gist of liberal foreign policy is that if it isn't in the US national interests, they are gung ho!
