On my short list ...

Emotions --- Barry Gibb.

It´s over and done,
but the heartache lives on inside (yeah yeah)
and who is the one you´re clinging to,
instead of me tonight.

BRIDGE

And where are you now,
now that I need you,
tears on my pillow,
where ever you go go,
I´ll cry me a river
that´s leads to your ocean
you´ll never see me fall apart

CHORUS

In the words of a broken heart
it´s just emotions, taking me over,
caught up in a sorrow, lost in the song,
but if you don´t come back,
come home to me darling,
don´t you know there´s nobody
left in this world to hold me tight,
there´s nobody left in this world to kiss goodnight,
goodnight (4)

I´m there, at your side,
a part of all the things you are,
but you have a part of someone else,
you gotta go find your shinning star.

In the words of a broken heart
it´s just emotions, taking me over,
caught up in a sorrow, lost in the song,
but if you don´t come back,
come home to me darling,
don´t you know there´s nobody
left in this world to hold me tight,
there´s nobody left in this world to kiss goodnight,
goodnight

Mine are so cliche', but here goes.

I Left My Heart in San Francisco. Tony Bennett

Everybody Love Somebody Sometime. Dean Martin

Summer Wind. Frank Sinatra

To Sir With Love. Lu Lu

These songs remind me of a time when grown ups wore pants and dresses. When adult conversations were mysterious and you had to sneak around to eavesdrop. When there was a distinction between adults and children.

I know, I know, it was far from a perfect era, but these songs bring back those images.

This is not fair since there are way too many songs that I love.

Off the top of my mind:

Amazing Grace
The Love Song (title could be wrong)

Whatever the Number 1 song is, they don't play it 6 times a day on the local "classic rock" station.

(Two or three decades to work with, and they have a playlist of maybe 200 songs?!)
