In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....
supercilious \soo-per-SIH-lee-uss\ (adjective):
Example sentence:
Brooke's snooty remarks and consistently supercilious attitude alienated virtually all of her colleagues.
Did you know?
Arrogant and disdainful types tend to raise an eyebrow at anything they consider beneath them. The original supercilious crowd must have shown that raised-eyebrow look often, because the adjective "supercilious" derives from "supercilium," Latin for "eyebrow." (We plucked our adjective and its meaning from the Latin adjective "superciliosus.") The term has been used in English to describe the censoriously overbearing since the late 1500s, when playwright Ben Jonson used it thus: "There are, no doubt, a supercilious race in the world who will esteeme all office, done you in this kind, an injurie."

How about "caller ID"?
Sometimes I pretend not to be able to habla Ingles, too.... that's pretty effective - and they rarely call back.

I haven't been on there in at least a year. Last few times I was on there, I was disconnected about 3 times each and was about 15 seconds behind on a conversation, and I was simply tired of interupting everyone and being interupted.
I've been booked lately. Became more active in local stuff, and that's taken a lot more of my time.

Yeah, I know what you mean about Palcra - er sorry, Paltalk. Sometimes it's good other times - well, what can I say! We have a new one now called e4net. It's very much like Firetalk use to, even down to the "over talk". Sound is great, everything is great - its five bucks a month. Anyway, I'm going to bed. I'll see you here tomorrow, unless I have to head back to the Aunt's.

I agree -- we don't need phone spam!
But one of our state representatives is working on it, at least for WA (and I sent a note of thanks to the fellow in HI who filed the original); I expect to see a bill filed here in the next few days.
