In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....
supercilious \soo-per-SIH-lee-uss\ (adjective):
Example sentence:
Brooke's snooty remarks and consistently supercilious attitude alienated virtually all of her colleagues.
Did you know?
Arrogant and disdainful types tend to raise an eyebrow at anything they consider beneath them. The original supercilious crowd must have shown that raised-eyebrow look often, because the adjective "supercilious" derives from "supercilium," Latin for "eyebrow." (We plucked our adjective and its meaning from the Latin adjective "superciliosus.") The term has been used in English to describe the censoriously overbearing since the late 1500s, when playwright Ben Jonson used it thus: "There are, no doubt, a supercilious race in the world who will esteeme all office, done you in this kind, an injurie."

Dude... You suck as a sub. I mean, noon. Wazzup wi' DAT. Even worse, I left off the #$%*ing definition. It's a good thing the word was recycled and everyone already knew what it meant.
To: TheGrimReaper
Well, hillary "played" a woman in the hit series, "How to Destroy The Credibility of the WhiteHouse"
With John Kerry announcing today that he has prostate cancer, I wonder how long before Hillary finds out she has it too..........?
To: VRWCmember
Well *I* don't know what it means.
Well it would help if I would look at the word...

I may be mixing my democrats, but isn't he the one who just recently found out he was Jewish?

I may be mixing my democrats, but isn't he the one who just recently found out he was Jewish? Yup all these years he thought it was Irish, while running in Massachusetts, but now thinking ahead to Florida and a few other places, he discovers he's Jewish. Hillary discovered the same thing (or atleast some step-grandparent or something) while running for Senate. The Democrats make it so easy to be a cynic, as you can't believe a word they say. Ever.

Since one of the names in my family tree is Carey(Irish) and now I know that I'm not related to that guy.
To: Dan from Michigan
Well more important than that....are you related to Drew Carey?????????? I love him........
To: dubyaismypresident
Yes I recall Mrs. Clinton finding the Jewish person in her family tree...sort of...... Now, how much you wanna bet she finds someone black too?

Phone spam?! Holy sh*t. Just what I don't need to see.
Nextel annoys me anyway. They call my company and I have told them repeatedly that we are not interested. One day I had 5 different telemarketers call... by the 3rd one I was cranky, by the 5th one, I was barely civil to the idiot on the other line. I spoke to it in icily polite tones... my fangs were bared!
idiots!
To: Argh
Hillary's blonde. She's not a natural blonde. Hell, she's not even natural!
To: JMJ333
He was only 44. Too young to die.

The "Texas No-Call" list works pretty well.
I've got approx. 80% fewer telemarketers bugging me since I got on it last year.

I was reading the definition and the first thing that popped into my head was "Goodness - an apt description of Mrs. Supercilious herself - Hillary Clinton." The original - I'm better than you person!!!!
Here kitty, kitty, kitty.

Yeah, but the no call list doesn't work for business'.
I've got it for the house. I'm anti-social by nature.
