Hi Pal Loddy,

Thanks, wish I could spend a little more time yammering with you guys...I'm the only gringo on site out of about 600 now, and FReep is my tie to the real world. I've now got 16 contractors on site doing everything from driving buses to dismantling a 15-story process plant. Full days and short nights.

they brought from town three of the prettiest little ladies who delighted the all-male group of well over 300 with their interpretation of the "Dance of the Seven Veils",

You need to start taking your camera to the chow hall so the rest of us can share in your cultural experiences!

I have no idea how it will be done...hopefully with lots of explosives!

It's easy to get in on, you just have to give up a family life, b willing to live overseas and come home to the USA once a year. Your only contact with friends and relatives is by email. In May, I get to commute to Chile on a six-week on, two- week off rotation, working in a part of Peru where kidnappings are common; in the north where the A-hole Shinning Path are still active. But outside of those few distractions, working overseas is quite romantic....did I mention malaria and interesting snakes in Africa?

My biggest worry is I seem to losing my boyish good looks rather rapidly. Loddy and I often commiserate over this sad rite of passage.

The problem is, in spite of Mo's coaching, I still haven't been able to post photos, so I have to send them to Valerie and she edits out all the good stuff.

Yikes! I'm sticking to bottled water!

In Fernald Ohio, which is located 18 miles north of Cincinnati. Uranium metals and compounds for nuclear reactor fuel were produced. This was used for this during the cold war 1953 to 1989 when all production was stopped. In 1991 it was permanantly stopped and the Fernald Environmental Project began to make clean-up safe and cost effective. The site produced feed material to be sent to other sites for their use to make plutonium and tritium. They converted uranium ore and recycled materials into uranium metal through chemical processes. For a long time years nobody in the tiny rural town of Fernald, Ohio suspected that they lived next door to a uranium processing plant. The sign at the plant said "Feed Materials Production" and they all assumed it was producing some type of animal feed. It wasn't animal feed. In 1984 that a report was released revealing that more than 275 pounds of uranium dust had leaked out of the plant.
