AMERICA - The Right Way!! (WEEKEND EDITION - Days 742 and 743) [Remember the Trade Center!!]

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail![President Bush]

Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

Jimmy Carter says that President Bush has not made the case for war.

The United States and Great Britain, according to British dispatches, have given Iraq six more weeks - time that will be used to convince skeptical Arab countries and France to get on board for military action.

Satellite pictures indicate activity at the Yongbyon nuclear facility in North Korea showed that state may be about ready to produce plutonium for nuclear weapons.

And President Bush has signed a directive, the Washington Times is reporting, that allows nuclear weapons to be used in response to biological or chemical attacks.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

I have to go turn my attention to other things. I pray that you all will feel God today.

I am reminded that there I times when I do not understand the workings of God. It just doesn't make sense sometimes.

That is when I turn to His character. I might not understand His works, but I know He is good.

Thank-you for posting his entire speech....

I was out and didn't hear/see it.

Reading it gave me chill bumps, especially the reading of Isaiah....and his personal message at the end.

On to church in a few.....it will be somber, I'm sure....
Our hearts are numb, here on the Space Coast of Florida.

Good Morning all!

A sad day yesterday, and it continues to remind us all of how life is not taken for granted.

While we were on our way to Mass last night we tuned into a Prairie Home Companion, with Garisson Keilor. He talked about the loss of the shuttle Columbia, but then did a show on jokes. It is ok I guess, but he talked about the moron and pollock jokes that now abound because of George Bush in office. In light of what had happened, I found his remarks to be completely insensitive, and pathetic. It only reaffirms why I don't listen to that program anymore.

We went to Mass last night, and I was surprised at the fact that our priest didn't even mention the shuttle disaster, or pray for the astronauts, and their families, during the prayers of intention.

I did however stumble across this Holy Card while kneeling in the pew, and I thought I would offer it up for you all today.

Safely Home

I am home in heaven,dear Ones;
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.
All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in heaven at last.
There is still work wating for you,
SO you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remains-
You shall rest in God's own land.
When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting
Oh, the joy to see you come!

ETERNAL FATHER, STRONG TO SAVE
(The Navy Hymn)

~~~ William Whiting ~~~
Eternal Father, strong to save,
Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,
Who biddest the mighty ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea!
O Christ! Whose voice the waters heard
And hushed their raging at Thy Word,
Who walked on the foaming deep,
And calm amidst its rage didst sleep;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea!
Most Holy Spirit! Who didst brood
Upon the chaos dark and rude,
And bid its angry tumult cease,
And give, for wild confusion, peace;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea!
O Trinity of love and power!
Our family shield in danger’s hour;
From rock and tempest, fire and foe,
Protect us wheresoever we go;
Thus evermore shall rise to Thee
Glad hymns of praise from land and sea.
Hello Chairman;mware. Thought of you at CPAC today, and what the day must have been like....The events affect CSPAN'S schedule, so they didn't cover the usual Donaldson/Novak fun.
Good Morning Lorie,
Thank you for the Navy Hymn.
Yesterday has become even more solemn for me. It's not only is the date of the Columbia disaster, but it was my father's birthday, who would have been 82, (He died in 1981.) and also the date when one of my best friends, with whom I served in the U.S. Air Force died. (Feb. 1, 2000.)
I thought of them all during Mass last night, and offered up my prayers.
But the profound affect of them all on my life continues to spur me on as inspiration, and everlasting gratitude.
I think we all are so proud of these astronauts, and the accomplishments they have achieved. They are willing to take those risks to improve our world, and make it a better place to live. For that we will be eternally grateful!
Thanks for all the great links, Molly.
Guen, church services today will be such a comfort.
Mel's movie news ...
A very violent 'passion' ["Miracles" on set of Mel Gibson's movie?]
Text provided from link to original article posted on thread:
"The Passion," now in production, will primarily focus on the betrayal, trial and death of Christ, culminating with his graphic crucifixion and resurrection in the tomb. The movie will be spoken entirely in Aramaic and Latin, the languages spoken in Jerusalem in Jesus' time.
For those of us who haven't mastered Aramaic but enjoy films with subtitles, we're out of luck. There won't be any subtitles. Whether this is a stroke of genius or an attempt to commit career suicide, it's an eye-opening example of a major Hollywood star defying Hollywood logic.
Why would Mel Gibson make a movie about Jesus in languages few can understand or read? "It will lend even more authenticity and realism to the film," he says. "Subtitles would somehow spoil the effect that I want to achieve. It would alienate you and you'd be very aware that you were watching a film if you saw lettering coming up on the bottom of it. Hopefully, I'll be able to transcend the language barriers with my visual storytelling. If I fail, I fail, but at least it'll be a monumental failure."
The further significance of Aramaic being spoken in "The Passion" is that it will revisit the sacrifice Jesus made in Jesus' own language. Instead of the world getting another Hollywood production of Americanized Christianity, Gibson's movie will provide an authentic form of Christ's message."
Wow.
Gee... imagine a film that might educate, and spur us on to try to master another language?
Bravo! Mr. Gibson, Bravo!
Good morning, Jay. Yesterday was indeed an especially affecting day for you. The losses are hard but your words in tribute are so true. It's good to see you, you've been scarce lately. How did the play go?
Molly, yep, I'm an early bird today. I woke up wide awake at 4 a.m. this morning and thought I might as well get up and start the day. I'm just about all ready to head for church so can freep a bit while the boys and hubby sleep for another hour or so.
Love the Navy hymn. Those words and thinking about them being sung by countless sailors thru the years is very comforting...
Off to choir practice and church.
Freezing rain in the forecast for later....Ugh.
Hi Lori,
Thank you for the kind words.
The play rehearsals are still underway. We have 3 weeks to go before our performance. (Feb. 22nd.) I am walking on egg shells as we begin our rehearsals without scripts this week.
Sorry about my absence as of late, but it is getting harder to get to a computer with everything going on in our old Boarding Home!
We have a winter storm on the way. Storm warnings have been posted for tonight and into Monday.
Hi Kit,
Safe travels.
My wife and I are suppose to go to Appleton (About an hour from here.) to see the musical Mama Mia, but the icy conditions are going to start sometime this afternoon.
We're watching the weather reports, and will make the decision acordingly.
The tickets are paid for, so if we don't go we eat the cost.
Am I correct in believing that we saw some pictures of your patriotic performance/play last year? That went very well, didn't it? It sounds like you must have the normal pre-performance jitters, which will make the production all the better in the end. What grade level/ages are the children?
Is that winter storm bringing you some *S*, or has it already arrived? If so, I know someone from your state who is VERY happy about that ...
Good Morning. Thanx for the reminder about the storm warning. I had totally forgotten. I'm have had network news on since yesterday morning, and need to begin tracking that system.
I'll need to decide whether to take off early this afternoon or take my chances and drive thru the snow in the morning. I'm off to the weather channel site.
