The GUILD - Jan. 31, 2003 - Do they stand with us or with terrorists? Contact European nations
Jan. 31, 2003

Posted on 01/31/2003 2:27:37 PM PST by mountaineer

Some European nations' leaders oppose the United States' policy regarding Iraq, while others offer firm support. It has been suggested that we might boycott tourism and the agricultural products of countries like France and Germany, for example, who oppose President Bush's efforts.

Some also have suggested offering words of support and thanks to those nations that have chosen to stand with us. The eight nations whose leaders endorsed a letter of support of the U.S. were: the United Kingdom, Spain, Hungary, Denmark, Italy, Poland, Portugal and the Czech Republic:

Washington, 31 January 2003 (RFE/RL) -- With an array of European countries voicing support for U.S. policy on Iraq, President George W. Bush moved closer to securing a broad "coalition of the willing" to back possible military action against Baghdad.

Yesterday, leaders from Britain, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Portugal signed a letter expressing support for the tough U.S. stance on Iraq, which the United States accuses of hiding weapons of mass destruction. Slovakia later said it supported the letter and today government leaders in Latvia, Romania, and Slovenia said they also back the contents of the letter. source

In any event, contacting foreign countries takes some doing. This thread attempts to provide some practical suggestions.

I knew he was sick, but that is depraved. Does he not have a mental health professional at his disposal?

You can't recapture your lost childhood by creating playmates for yourself, Mr. Jackson.

I heard about this on the radio this morning and wanted to puke. I don't understand how he gets away with this stuff.

BTW, thanks for your kind words on the prayer thread that I put up. That was my very first time to make a thread and I thought long and hard about it. But I figured the more people praying the better.

Did anyone catch Liz Taylor on LKL last evening?

It was "just sad, Larry".

It's amazing that Jackson claims to have only had 2 nose surgeries, and those were to help his breathing.

I have seen that nose, I have no idea who he can breath with that thing.

All this wonderful info! Where to start?

Sorry you've been under the weather. After I spend a few minutes catching up on things at FR, I must get to work spackling and painting, as I'm redoing a walk-in closet. It's a glamorous life.

Thanks M, nothing serious. I'm about to sand and paint the inside of the kitchen cabinets. We are the domestic goddesses.

Now I'm obsessed with Flat Stanley, I must have my picture taked with him. Is it against the law to stock a laminated piece of paper?

Here's my favorite from liz's column, she always saves the best for last:

So that's what privilege really is - a smirk. ~~Liz Smth

Tina drinks from the Dowd fountain of 'I hate GWB because he's a real men and I can't get a real man, all I get is senitive mama's boys who wouldn't stop a mugging on me in progress, saying the attacked might have a rough childhood!!'

Wacko Jacko - - so when is a family member or a mental health professional going to take Wacko on a nice long trip to a mental war..er..uh, vaction?

party that included a Twinkie-trimmed frosted cake, tabloid tablecloths, pork rinds, Slim Jims and cans of Spam.

All the things Britney's mom wouldn't keep in the house>

In recent weeks, Gen. Wesley Clark, the former NATO commander who is considering a run, revealed to the Forward newspaper that he descends "from generations of rabbis" in Minsk, and former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean has touted his Jewish wife and children. But Lieberman campaign press secretary Jano Cabrera told us the Connecticut senator isn't worried: "Oy vey. All this talk about who is Jewish and who isn't is absolutely meshuga. That said, there's only one candidate in this race with a real lox box."

Oh this is too good.

First Kerry has a schmidge of Jew and now his running mate (JMHO) Gen. Wesley Clark, the former NATO commander who is considering a run, revealed to the Forward newspaper that he descends "from generations of rabbis" in Minsk... (a schmidge)

If dims think we're have difficulties relating to Arab nations now, what will the Arabs think when both prez and vp are Jewish, if just schmidge.

Wouldn't bother me, it's the dims that bend over backwards not to upset Arabs.

Hey HLL, what do you get when two schmidges get together?

Back to work for now......

Now I know I have no future in Democrat politics, a la Hillary, John F. Kerry, Wesley Clark, et al. - there's not a drop, a smidge, a schtickel, an iota of Jewish blood coursing through my veins, alas! (that, and I have a few too many active brain cells to be a Dem).

I once attended the bar mitzvah of a friend's son. Does that make me part Jewish?

This may be too obvious, but did anyone watch the Columbia memorial service and thank God, for the zillionth time, that Al Gore did not win the 2000 election?

Yecchhh, news from a few days ago that escaped our notice:

DOWN ON DELANCEY STREET, Susie Tompkins Buell and Mark Buell had some pals in to hear Hillary Clinton the other day. Hillary is sounding more and more like a presidential candidate. Says one who attended, "She almost averred that now that Al Gore is out of the race, she's in. She implied that if Gore had run, she, out of loyalty, would not have. But now the field is clear." On Friday, Sen. Hillary gave a stump speech in NYC blasting the Bushwa in terms most gladiatorial. SF Examiner.

I was a nanny for a Jewish family for a year. Does that me part Jewish, or at least honorary Jewish?

I have another friend who was adopted by a jewish family and who has found that her birth parents were polish catholics. She makes a fantastic matzah ball soup which I've eaten many times. I've even spun a dreidel at her house.

Does that mean I can be a dimocrap candidate for pres?
