Bush is not the type of man to say something simply because it might impress some people ..... and he's a very practical, down-to-earth sort of guy ...... with a Master's degree in business.
If he thinks a hydrogen-powered car is feasible then it just may be. And if they could be produced at a reasonable price and reduce our dependency on oil then I think it would be just grand.
What I don't understand is how people can hear him make a proposal like that specifically mentioning the concept of using less oil and then say that he is in the pockets of Big Oil and is looking our for the interests of his cronies. If his only concern was taking care of his buddies, wouldn't proposing a car that doesn't use petroleum for fuel be the last thing he would do?

I just received an email from my best friend. Her husband was in Monterrey learning Russia, and was having a hard time learning it. He's a golden boy, everything has always come to him easily, but Russian didn't. He could write it and translate, but he didn't have the ear to speak it. So he came home last week, and was sent overseas on Monday with the rest of his unit for a year. With the option that they may be gone for another year. She is facing the potential of having her husband gone for 2 1/2 years...she is proud of him, but he is quite a bit older than she is (he's in his early fifties.) He loves being in the Army and I'm glad there are many good men who are willing to go to war for us. It is still hard.
