I just received an email from my best friend. Her husband was in Monterrey learning Russia, and was having a hard time learning it. He's a golden boy, everything has always come to him easily, but Russian didn't. He could write it and translate, but he didn't have the ear to speak it. So he came home last week, and was sent overseas on Monday with the rest of his unit for a year. With the option that they may be gone for another year. She is facing the potential of having her husband gone for 2 1/2 years...she is proud of him, but he is quite a bit older than she is (he's in his early fifties.) He loves being in the Army and I'm glad there are many good men who are willing to go to war for us. It is still hard.

Oh smeg. From what I understand, Russian is not one of the easier languages to get a grasp on. Tis a pity, because I've always wanted to learn it.
