Good afternoon all - most of the day's been spent on the first shuttle thread and I'm beat. bbl

This is just awful, the loss of the Columbia, and the crew. But, I must say, I would imagine that Scott Peterson (husband of the missing Laci Peterson, and prime suspect in her disappearance) is probably pretty happy about it. It will get him off of the front page, and not the prime subject of the evening Fox News Channel programs. Same thing about Gary Condit. I'm sure he was relieved when the planes crashing into the WTC and the Pentagon got the spotlight off of him.

;-) No, you're not cynical - I thought the same thing about Condidit, but today was so horrific that I forgot about Peterson.

If the goofy grocery store clerk's story is correct, LP was abducted by someone other than Scott.

Scott may be off the front pages, but I'm sure he is not sleeping any easier. I think the police will arrest him as soon as they find the body.

It is possible that the police may never find Laci Peterson's body, but that doesn't mean that they can't arrest hubby. He's been all over giving interviews, and making contradictory statements. If there is enough circumstantial evidence, perhaps forensic evidence, plus enough lies, Scotty can be charged and tried. He is sure behaving like a guilty man. There was a photo of him posted on another thread a couple of weeks ago - a photo taken at a candlelight vigil not too long after laci disappeared. He was grinning, and looking quite happy. I don't think I'd be looking like that if my husband was missing, and I had no idea what happened to him.

Sounds like bill clinton at Ron Brown's funeral. Scotti will be charged as soon as they have enough evidence.... which should happen pretty soon.
