We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail! [President Bush]
Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave member of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!
Reuters is reporting that North Korea warned that if sanctions are imposed against it for its nuclear weapons development program, it will mean war.
The Washington Times is saying the troop buildup is moving along in such a way that a February attack against Iraq could be ordered by the President.
Meanwhile, the Iraqi Government announced it is building two defense rings around Baghdad. The outer ring is composed of regular Iraqi army and Republican Guards. The Iraqis expect that defense line cannot be held, so they have built an inner line, composed of "Special Republican Guards." (This is the first such mention of these units I have come across - wonder if that was because of the miserable showing of the "vaunted" Republican Guards in the 1991 war. Wonder if these "Special" units will do any better.) The Iraqi Government says it is upon this defense line the American army will break.
Stateside - Dick Gebhardt announced he will not run for any more Congressional terms after his time in the 108th Congress is over.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

I've been away all morning at a dental appointment.
When I returned, there were 3 FReepmails for me.
Two were sweet, dear notes from DJ and Mulliner.
The 3rd was from someone who use to post here.....and said I drove him/her away with my rudeness.
This poster also said if I had such thin skin
I shouldn't throw arrows at other people.
I am in tears.
I had no idea I had hurt another person's feelings here at ATRW.
I had no idea.
I have apologized to this person in FReepmail.
I don't know if they will accept it or not.
I think it best I don't come back.....
..I didn't even know I had hurt this person....and this person said I drove him/her away.
I feel terrible.
This is not the person I want to be.
I'm just going away to cry....
..and doubt I will post again.

IG: That's hillarious!
HOB: the problem with Fairfax and VA vehicle/ traffic policing is that it is tax collection, not law enforcement.

You can't just fold up your tent and leave. There will be a very empty space on 'the campground' if you do.
You've got Mail.

you believe in rational law, and rational enforcement of it, then, for example, don't try driving 5mph over the limit on the Rte. 123 overpass of I-66 on certain "collection" days. Actually, I have found Fairfax to be extraordinarily lenient when it comes to speed limit enforcement. The City of Vienna, that's another story altogether. That's just one big speed trap. In fact, the City of Vienna preys on the fact that speed enforcement on the VA 123 hill entering the city on the east is non-existent on the county side of the boundary. VA 123 takes a long downhill run at this point, and is in the City of Vienna at the bottom. So is the city gendarme - camped out on a side street just waiting for unsuspecting people to come flying down the hill.

Guennie, the majority of us DO NOT feel that way.
You are very honest and open with some of your opinions, as many others are, while reserved about others. I respect you for that.
You do not deserve being criticized for that.
Hard for me to see how this could be one of our (to borrow Sen. Edwards term) regulars. I'm a little disturbed that this person hid behind a FReepmail while you openly expressed your opinions to all of us knowing it was our right to agree or disagree....debate.
Sheesh..I don't get along with members of my own family. We can't possibly expect to get along 100% with strangers all the time. Please reconsider.

Well, my daughter made fun of it all in her essay. I can't wait to see her grade. Well, I know that the issue of art is a touchy one. I had a drawing instructor that would shake visibly in my prescence after he overheard me suggest that I liked Piccasso's early paintings much better than his later stuff...he didn't even hear me describe the drawing we were looking at as worthy of a 5-year-old.

Back for a few minutes. Had a talk with the place that was going to hire me to see just what they had in mind in extending a part-time job offer. If I can work it out, it might be good for me to work about 4 nights a week. But finding full-time work is my priority now.
What was your doctor's attitude towards Atkins before your hubby started the diet? Did he have concerns or did he even know he's on the diet? My sister, a nurse, seemed skeptical and questioned some things, but as my numbers improved, she finally dropped all skepticism.

Hmmm. Sounds like you were outvoted 2-1. Do you really want to earn the wrath of DJ and her hummingbirds? Who will I wave to?

I lived in Vienna, so perhaps my views are skewed... Unbelieveably, Montgomery County has far more reasonable limits than Fairfax, and not just Vienna. Rte. 123 is a stupid 35 mph all the way from McLean to Fairfax. I tried to fight this once with the DOT people. Already next to impossible, for they use traffic criteria that runs in circles. The last wall I ran into was that the County Police had to agree to any change in a speed limit.
