Then when I was talking to my oldest brother, I found out that he had my dad's dog tags. Dog Tags or Discharge papers will give you his serial No. You should use it prominently in all correspondence with the Gov. along with his SS#. They weren't the same till the late '60s.
There are records that were destroyed in accidents, but either the Defense Dept or the National Archives has full service records for most who have served from the Revolutionary War onward.

There are also Divisional and Regimental Histories of most WWII units. If you can't find one to buy, your library can get one on loan. The regimental History will tell you exactly where your father's unit was all through the war. Since he was awarded a Bronze Star, he may be listed individualy with the citation.

There are also Divisional and Regimental Histories of most WWII units. If you can't find one to buy I just ordered two that were listed on the 69th website .. I understand that there was another book call "Tresspass against them" the history of the 271st inf. reg. that was given out to each of the men at the end of the war. I remember hearing stories about some kind of book my dad had and my sister thinks my oldest brother has it but he wasn't sure and said he'd look and see
Thanks for the info about the dog tags, I didn't know that and yes I do have his SS#

Yes we do use all season tires. But this winter I wanted winter tires and he can get all new all seasons for the rest of the year. Then we'll have winter tires for probably 3 years. We'll actually BE PREPARED. That will be a new experience.

Since the game doesn't start till 11....no beer until 10:30. How can you watch something so mind bogglingly boring without a couple of sixpacks under the belt before the coin toss?
