Do I understand correctly that they were a promotional item for New Line employees only? Seems I heard that somewhere.

Ken: noticed it too on some shots; several ideas on that, some of the Rohimm had a shorter bow which would be appropriate for a horse oriented people, it lends itself to being more manuverable on horseback and the training may have carried over to when they shot on foot. I recall a scene in the Warg fight when the bow was horizontal, that was point blank range. When in Helm's deep, a variety of shooting styles were employed. I have tried shooting that way, it is accurate at close range. Many of the North American Indians when on horseback used short sinew backed bows, designed to shoot at close range. The draw length on those were 16-20 inches, a longbow 28 inches or more. Some of the elves at Helm's deep used even a longer draw, anchoring back by the ear, giving 30-32inches. Generally bows gain 3 lbs or so per inch past normal draw length, giving a sort of magnum performance. I noticed Faramir's longbow men used a more conventional longbow stance. So, the variety of shooting styles did not strike me as being inappropriate.

I'm just sitting here finishing off my Ghiradelli dark chocolate. You know, it's good...but I could eat a bag of hershey's semi-sweet chocolate chips and be just as happy.

My kids are watching Signs. If you haven't seen the movie, it shows this alien walking out of shrub during a child's birthday party. The kids have seen it a half dozen times, but every time that alien walks out and the music builds, I give a shriek and they jump a foot, then pogo bounce around the room for a few minutes.

It's quite hysterically funny!

LOL We have a blast watching it. By the end they've had such a good time having me scare them silly that they aren't really that scared! It's really an odd kind of "reverse psychology" I think.

Besides, I told them that all monsters are made out of chocolate and that if they ever see one, don't approach it, to just call me...because I want all that chocolate for myself. They are so focused on the absolute injustice of this that they actually look for monsters so they can get to it first.

Works for us. ;-)
