Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Back in one piece.

A cousin and I once filled a model ship with firecrackers and blew it up. Then, we took the surviving superstructure, doused it with gasoline, floated it in a tub of water and set it on fire. Our very own "disaster at sea" recreation...Oh my, you bring back the memories.....
My dad made me a beautiful model battleship, large and detailed (read, he wouldn't let me do anything on it by myself, because it had to be "perfect"). I loved it, and appreciated it, but the dark side began working on me and one day (a couple of years later-after the divorce). I doused it in model glue, set it afire and afloat on the little pond in our back yard and had my own (unforgettable) recreation of Pearl Harbor....
Tora! Tora! Tora!
I still feel a little guilty about that sometimes.....

Well that is good news!
Did you see any black riders on the road?
To: rightwingreligiousfanatic
Heh.
To: HairOfTheDog
I finally got to see it and was very cute!
I'll have to show it to Glen when I get home.

(HHD: We're going for Tampa Bay. Maybe I shouldn't have said that in here.)
To: RMDupree
Well, I will root for Tampa if I root at all!
To: HairOfTheDog
I believe it is this Sunday.
I have no idea what time it starts or what the half time entertainment is supposed to be though.
One of the male Hobbit Hole dwellers ought to inform us shortly.

It is next Sunday around 5:30 PM or so.... I think the pre game begins in about 15 minutes from now........ ;^)
Go former Vikings quarterbacks!
To: HairOfTheDog
Thanks for the link. If I didn't like the Raiders, it'd make me cheer them on, but I can't :-(
To: rightwingreligiousfanatic; HairOfTheDog
See? Whaddid I tellya?
Vim, can you be a little more specific? You aren't going for the Raiders are you? Why, that's like rooting for Sauron!

This is one Super Bowl where I really don't have a clear favorite... but I will probably lean toward the Bucs because this is their first one...and I like Brad Johnson... (Vikings should never have lost him...)
But I like the fact that the Raiders are the "old guys", Jerry Rice is 40, Rich Gannon is 37, etc.... so I won't be sad if they win either.... Should be a great game... pretty evenly matched the way I see it...

Heh, that Bucs piece was pretty funny. ;^) (well except for them using Helm's Deep as the representation of the evil one's tower)

Gruden knows the Raiders players so I bet that gives him an edge in making his gameplan.
GO BUCS! ;^)

See you all later!

GO BUCS! ;^)
But I won't be surprised if the "old guys" pull out a few tricks and keep it close....

Bless little boysI think little boys are hard-wired to enjoy doing things that make little girls go "eeewwww!"
And grown-up boys are hard-wired to enjoy doing things that make grown-up girls smack them on the shoulder...

I think if video cameras had been available when I was growing up, I would have been a budding film-maker... always thought it would be neat to make my own special effects movies!

(I wonder if anyone has ever filmed a WW2 battle scene using green army men....)
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
That sounds pretty cool!It was... the smoke was thick and black.... I would love to have a film of it now... Actually, cancel that, I think I'd be embarrassed to watch it....
Some things are better left in the murky past....
