Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Thanks for your review, SuziQ!
I think as with FoTR, repeated viewings will contribute to our general acceptance of certain liberties taken by PJ in the film.
Other than that though, we can nitpick just for fun! ;-)

Here's the power line behind the car. It was like that for about six days. Cars, vans, and pickup trucks could drive under it, but the FedEx package van couldn't.

After the "dwarves" got that tree off the road we had a way to get out without driving over power lines (okay we had to drive over the TV cables) and the reallyyyyy low lines. Trees were still falling as late as Friday morning (storm was on a Wednesday night.)

It's a morph of two songs from the book. The Bath Song (O! Water hot is a noble thing!), and The Marching Song. Both in the first half of Fellowship.
I can link you to a downloadable audio clip of it, if you'd like?

Make that "over down lines" and "under the realllyyy low lines".

Here's a picture of the boys from today at the mall:

2J, they're adorable!
Time to start my vacation. No more work for days and days! Lots and lots of trips to Two Towers! I'm planning to take my brother tomorrow, for his birthday.

What a cute picture! I bet they got a kick out of talking to Santa.
Is Matthew asking for a Red Ryder BB-gun yet?
To: Overtaxed
I hate that. I still have a tree down in my backyard from our last storm ... which was about a week or so before your storm. I got my siding fixed but the tree is still lying there. No electric lines or anything involved though.

A couple of weeks ago, you know he told Santa he'd have to get back with him on what he wanted. Well, today he told him "I still don't know what I want, I'll leave it to your discretion." Santa actually Ho Ho Ho'ed!
Joshua told him he wanted a rubber chicken. I kid you not.

Power lines and danger aside. This place looks absolutely beautiful.

Been reading the Entmoot posts. I'm willing to chip in for our own theater room! And one hotel would work well.
Um, this might sound stupid, but remember I've never travelled on my own. At 20, will I be able to rent a car? Or will I have to beg for a ride? What airport are we using? And what about hotels?

The only whole tree I have down is that one across the driveway. I have large branches and the tops of 3 or 4 trees. Then there are some permanently bent over with split bark that I'll have to have taken down too.

This is so cute. My girls were always the bashful ones that cried and shied away. No great photos of santa like this.

Hey, I'm going to be a displaced mom by the time this comes about. If all works out right and I get to go it won't matter whether you can rent or what I'll be whatever stand-in you need. Or whatever.

I was really sorry to lose mine. Just bought this place. It was a fairly young pecan so I'm thinking it might not have been too healthy. But,it was at the back of the property and provided a nice shady area over the back yard.
Looking at the bright side, now I have a nice sunny area in which to plant my new garden.

All those hanging power lines remind me of Shelob's web! And they are just as treacherous!
To: Wneighbor
Thanks for the offer! You're an engineer, did I remember that right? We have a number of female technical types wandering around here. I guess we're more likely to be geeks.
By the way, welcome to the Hole. Great to see some new faces!
