AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 692) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | December 13, 2002 | All of Us

Posted on 12/13/2002 4:06:28 AM PST by Chairman_December_19th_Society

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!

Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

The Pope has accepted the resignation of Cardinal Law.

Jimmah has offerred to negotiate a peace between Israel and the Palestinians, but only if the two groups and the United States ask him to.

The United States has characterized the Iraqi report as incomplete - saying it does not detail things America knows has gone on in their nuclear program, for example.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

Someone asked me yesterday how I think Lott must be feeling these days. I replied, "Pretty damned secure." There's no one in Washington who knows his own future so well as Trent Lott right now. He knows exactly what everyone will say about him. He knows exactly what everyone will do about him. They will say the worst. They will do nothing. And if they try to do something to him, he will know why.

In the general opinion, I don't think that Lott is now a racist; his statement is universally held to be racist. The sentiment of the letters I sent to the (com)Post has proven correct. I pointed out that the (com)Post hadn't the guts to call Lott and the Party racist. Their standard was to suggest it, stopping short there. We'll see lots and lots of local-section, sports and style pages columnists complain that Lott is a racist. Few national writers or editors will go that far. Not even EJ Dionne went that far. Today he brought out an old, black Republican! I think it's hilarious for while he uses the man as an example of how the Republicans have supposedly betrayed blacks, the man is... a Republican.

The President has completely shred the principal complaint that the Republican party is racist. Yes, that puts the burden on Lott. It's his problem now. Meanwhile, there is talk that Lott will have to buy his way out of this by sponsoring Black Caucus legislation. That couldn't be more wrong.

Haven't we learned from Tom Daschle's example that the the Senate Majority Leader is practically immune from criticism? It does not have to have any effect upon the way he operates the Senate. A Majority Leader's effectiveness in the Senate is his sole criteria. Here's a test: who can name the Senate Majority leaders of the past hundred years? Anybody care? Anybody remember? Majority Leaders are very different from Speakers. Speakers are far more political, far more subject to immediate sway, and, like the Senate itself, Majority Leaders have nicer offices than Speakers, and with thicker walls.

Lott is in a very unique position. He can choose anything. He never had a better opportunity than now. What? People might get upset with him over something? This little scandal will make everything else look small for the rest of Lott's long career. He's got his bogeyman, and he may as well use it. Oh, he'll keep apologizing alright. But I hope he's laughing back at his office, and smiling the most devious Daschle smile there ever was.

I see there's a Lott conference at 5:30. My prediction is nothing new.

Here is one of my favorite quotes, I think I should send it to Debbie. Anyway...

"Anyone who imagines that bliss is normal is going to waste a lot of time running around shouting that he's been robbed. The fact is that most putts don't drop, most beef is tough, most children grow up to be just people, most successful marriages require a high degree of mutual toleration, and most jobs are more often dull than otherwise. Life is like an old time journey...delays, sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinders, and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas, and thrilling bursts of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride."

(This quote has been attributed to Gordon B Hinckley, president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.)

Say, how did your party go? Did you report on it and I missed it? What did that whining woman say about everybody bringing their things in donut boxes? LOL!

Great party, it went really well. We had fajitas from a Mexican restaurant, yum. And apparently, the whiner didn't bring anything homemade. I watched to see who brought what, didn't see anything she brought, but I know who brought the homemade stuff and she wasn't one. LOL. I wasn't in the room when she saw the donut boxes, but they said she laughed...We had a great selection of desserts and treats, about 1/3 homemade, the rest bought, which is fine. Only three dozen doughnuts there, and 15 boxes...

gc6....It burns me that if you are from the south you are judged a racist....My son is a veteren of 17 years in the Air Force and has airmen under him...When they find out Andy is from Georgia they just ASUME he is a racist.....He has to set them straight ....

We had some neighbors move here from Chicago and were using the N word in front of my grandchildren...I had to inform them we did not use that word..They were shocked....Just thought all southerners used that word...I guess the rest of the country will always think we in the south are just ignorant bigots....So sad.....

Hi, how are ya. Glad to see you here. Let me tell you about me, never was, never am, never will be a racist. I policed during the 60's and 70's and racist I saw, big time. I also saw some pretty mean radicals on the other side as well. No place for it today what so ever anywhere, anytime, for any reason. We here in MS are probally the most watched in the world by the federal govt, the most intregated of any state and it is paying off for us. We get boodootles of fed money to help this poor state with all kinds of problems. True, we got the worst schools in the USA because we can't keep teachers. I am like you, it does gall me for someone to think we are racist simply because we live in the states we do.

Good to see you here and please, stop by more often, we have the best cybercoffee shop on FR and besides, we don't have too many from Ga. stopping by. Have a good night.

Platters are ready. They would have cost a fortune to purchase. Everything that had a filling was nicely piped into whatever was being filled. The little radish mice are posed as if nibbling on the cheese. It's purty. But I now have a massive headache. I'm going to skip the play and lay down for a while.

It is just about time for me to be off to se gd in the school Christmas play tonight, 2nd grader reaching stardom so early in life. I had to promise her I wouldn't clap when she said her parts why, wonder what give her the idea I would. Just went down to her house and saw her in her little dress and such, a doll and a star in my heart.

Another Southerner weighing in on the subject ......

It irks me that the media and the liberals and the race-baiters will continue to talk about the racial problems in the South ...... but they never seem to recall some really vicious stuff going on in Boston. After those initial problems with the first schools that were integrated, most places in the South integrated their schools quietly and peacefully ..... much more gracefully than many northern schools did.

The very people who scream about stereotypes are the first ones to stereotype Southerners! The very people who talk about tolerance are the most intolerant of everyone else!
