We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!
Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!
The Pope has accepted the resignation of Cardinal Law.
Jimmah has offerred to negotiate a peace between Israel and the Palestinians, but only if the two groups and the United States ask him to.
The United States has characterized the Iraqi report as incomplete - saying it does not detail things America knows has gone on in their nuclear program, for example.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

Disability from smallpox vaccines is generally via brain-damage. Sometimes retardation, sometimes vegetative, sometimes coma.
As for why you didn't hear much, recall first that they ended pre-litigious stage; next that they were given to all children once, not all people in the same year (Making the raw numbers at the same rate appear to be about 1/40th what they would when given all at once). When you were younger, how many horribly scarred people did you see wandering around? How many mentally retarded? Many of these people were kept hidden away or in homes.

BRAVO!!!You have done an excellent job of summing up my feelings on the matter, Chair .... from the fact that this has been blown waaaaaay out of proportion to the implications and ramifications of it.

We do need compromisers. It's capitulators we don't need.Agreeing with you 1000% on that (and, no, that's not a typo).
.
I do disagree with your smallpox numbers though. Here's the sort of stats I keep coming across ......
"If you think of doing the entire U.S. population for instance, suppose everyone volunteered, you would have probably a couple hundred deaths or more and thousands of side effects," said Dr. Sue Bailey, former assistance, Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs.
They do say that there are some people who should not get the vaccination at all, such as pregnant women, people with eczema and people with weakened immune systems ... probably 50 million in those categories combined.

Your trip to Pennsylvania isn't in jeopardy because your compatriots couldn't make it to work, is it?
To: Utah Girl

I assume that since you directed your comments at me, you believe this is something I need to hear. OK, I'll respond.
Bush did NOT certify that Lott was a racist. It's plain and simple: Lott said the wrong thing and needs to figure out what he said wrong and apologize for it. That's politics. If you can't raise your rhetorical abilities above that of the common folk and actually speak in a clear manner so that people aren't left to figure out what you mean by relying on their knowledge of your personality and your own history, then you have no business in politics.
When most people say something like this, those who know them best excuse them and may not even notice. They don't draw the conclusion that they are racist. But that is not the case in public life. You have to say what you mean and say it clearly. You cannot hope that people give you the benefit of the doubt by not linking things like Thurmond's run for the presidency and his policies. That's a pretty darned short line to draw and people will draw it.
And Lott should get less slack than even most people because he's had a history of saying stupid things.

When he was president I thought he was one of the 3 or 4 worst in our history, but I had some respect for him. I have lost that completely in recent years. I agree. I thought Carter was a lousy President, but I admired him for his Habitat with Humanity work, and didn't really pay attention to his "peacekeeping" efforts, they were background noise it seemed. But the more I"ve read about him lately, wow, he is a politician through and through, in the vein of Gore and x42, and the rest of the dems.

A. My family had a wide circle of friends. None were retarded, except for one family who had a Downs' syndrome child.
B. Smallpox re-vaccinations were required for ALL people drafted or entering university, or going overseas, prior to the early 70's. I do believe that I would have heard of at least ONE case in my lifetime.
If bad things had happened to people who had vaccinations, it would have become known. Remember thalidomide? That was in the late 60's and everyone knew about that...so your "pre-litiginous" argument is in my opinion invalid.
Scare-mongering by those who think that every single thing is a plot, in my opinion.

Oh, I wish I could remember the name of that group! Their music is excellent, but I hate their costumes. It is a mix of Celtic and classical with a rock-type beat. Was it the Coors?

One thing about friends, they can disagree and still be friends. I know Trent and he is not a racist by amy means, a good man all the way, he would not hurt or say anything that would hurt someone, that I know. He should not resign and let the dems win another round in the game of politics.

Not to me, if you live north of Memphis, you are a yankee.
To: Miss Marple
Maybe he is chewing gum when thinking, a task some have a hard time doing.

Well, the first two questions from reporters to Ari were about Lott, including the odious Ron Fournier who said, "Why did the President wait 4 days to address this?" UGH!
But then they went on to Iraq,.......Uh oh, it's back to Lott, not sure who brought this back, but Ari's swatting the flies pretty well!
To: Common Tator
I tend to think that Lott is in it for the power too. He engineered the Senate Leader job for the Republicans to his advantage, paid off Nichols with a plum chairmanship job. I do agree with you that Trent like approval, but he likes power too. The question is, which one does he like more? I think approval...

The name of that group is BOND. Some are Australian, some British. I don't know much more about them than that. I do like listening to them.
To: Neets
Yes, ma'am....
(See, we Northerners only do the "Yes Sir/Ma'am" when we have the begeeses scared out of us....)
To: Utah Girl
(Ummm....wasn't it Bond???)
To: Neets
(I didn't post that last one...I left minutes ago....bye!)

Just heard from someone in the political circles, of course Heard you know I am sure, it is Mr. I Heard, never met him, yet. Anyhow the word is thet Lott is going to step down, and run for gov., maybe resign from the Senate as well. Don't know if true or not, rumors are flying down here in MS.
To: Neets
Your boss sounds like a fine fellow.
Roomie and I noticed, too, the switch from Sen Lott to step down as leader to "Lott must go". I do hope he stays, what we don't need is an even split in the senate. But I also think the dems have been working very quietly and dilligently to move Snow, McCain and Chaffee to left side of the senate, for some time. They will promise the moon if these 3 will switch.
I will say one thing for the dems, they really know how to play hard ball, even if they have to ruin someones reputation, cheat in the elections and tell fibs of their wonderful works for the "average" citizen. I wish the Republicans would learn to play hardball, but unfortunately, they haven't. They seem afraid to stand up for their beliefs and to stand up for other Republicans, as we have seen with Sen Lott and others. One of them could have mentioned Lott made that statement 20 years ago, but does not apply today, but they didn't.
I personally think Lott should never have been the Replican Leader, because he wants to be liked. He seems too much of a gentleman to put up a good fight, he caves. Let's see, the dems got rid of Livingston, Newt and now they are after Lott, will he leave? I hope not. Can he take the heat? I hope so.
I will say one thing for him.......LATE this afternoon, 1600 hrs, he will appear before the cameras and say something. It looks like he's taken a page from the last administration. He's making a late Friday announcement. Too bad he didn't just put out a newsrelease like the past administration used to do in order to keep from answering questions.
