No, I don't think Empty Lott will or should resign as Senator. He hasn't done anything that warrants that. But the Majority Leader is a political role, and he has lost his mo-jo....

Along those same lines, we received a form from boychild #2's school which he had to sign in order for us to be informed if he became involved in illegal activities while on campus. He was highly offended when we told him we wanted him to sign it; to the point where we decided not to make an issue of it (you pick your battles, you know?) He was surprised, I guess, that we didn't think that he would come to us on his own with such information, rather than depending on the school to let us know.

Sure enough, he did have a little...... episode......on St. Patrick's day............and that's all I'm going to say about it....except that he DID tell us about it right away. The school gave him only a very, very minor slap on the wrist. What he got from us was worse. But I trust him when he says he will keep us informed of anything we need to know.

Bit is right ......after the second statement coming to light that Lott made 20 years ago......he needs to do the honorable thing and step aside.

Inroads are being made by the President in the African-American community and Lott inserts his foot in his big mouth and derails that effort.

See, that's kinda my point. The university can disavow all responsibility for the welfare of its students, but if it creates, maintains and fosters an environment that encourages crime and injury (like increased date rape and drinking deaths), then they can't hide from their actions.

What a change in this ole world. In hi school you took classes in manners, not that you did not have them cause momma and daddy would knock you silly if you didn't pratice them at home. 'Yes Sir, No Sir, Yes mam, No mam' MANDAYORY.
Excuse me, pardon me, I am sorry, you stood up when a older person entered the room, you bowed to a lady WHICH you did't refer to her as 'that woman'. I am 66 today and when I speak to a older lady, it is still yes mam, no man, thank you. When I speak to a oder gentleman, it is the same , the yes sir, no sir thing.

You went to college, you didn't leave whose manners at home and it is as much a part of you this day as the day is light and the night is dark. Not so with the youngsters today, this dorm thing proves it.

In my opinion, Lott should issue a statement explaining that he didn't even think about the segregation aspect, as all he remembered was how supportive Thurmond was for tax cuts and supporting national defense. He should point out that HE (Senator Lott) was 10 years old when Thurmond ran for president. He should say it never occurred to him that anyone wuld take his speech in support of segregation.

Then he should be NOT elected by the Republicans in the Senate, and go back to being a Senator in charge of farming or something like that.

Good morning! Bit, your comment on the college inspires me to share this little tidbit with y'all.

My Jemians Terror is sooo funny. Bear in mind that he is just 16, but a real sweet 16.

You may have picked up on the fact that my family is a bit on the conservative side. Hubby and I have tried to discourage dating and finding a partner when the children cannot fulfill responsibilities that committments require. We have encouraged getting to know families and doing things in groups.

But, I have stressed to JT that he needs to speak with a young lady's father, asking his permission, BEFORE speaking to her about dates, or anything more serious. He has, nervously, followed my advice.

He and a classmate have liked each other since the 6th grade AT LEAST. They have not gone out together but have gone to class parties, etc. are in the band. Well, lately he has been spending A LOT of time with her. In class, at her house, after school activities. Last night, he was at her house after school and then went with her family out to dinner. While at dinner, I think, he told the girl's dad that he really liked the sweet young thing (who has blond hair and blue eyes) and would he be allowed to be serious in his relationship with her. The dad said, "sure, go ahead."

So JT asked and the girl, of course, melted in acquiesence. Most of their friends have greeted the news with, "Finally."

But the funny part is her dad. He had no clue what JT was asking. Later the guy's wife had to clue him in to what JT had actually said and what the dad okayed! LOL! I think he was in shock that his daughter is grown enough that a young man is romantically interested. I think that dad just aged ten years!

The girl's mom also confided in me that it really impressed her and her husband. She said that back in their day, and I ws like this too, that they just dated and then clued their families in later. JT (also another young man who is interested in a different daughter of theirs) declared his intentions and depth of his interest now and opened himself up for the girl's parents to establish ground rules.

Of course, JT has been told (by me at least) that he should treat his girlfriend, no matter if it's this girl or another, with the high standards he wants for his daughters.

I am proud of him.

All of my kids have the yes ma'am, no ma'am thing down. We didn't fuss at them, just corrected them when they didn't.

Even in the military, when our commander comes into the common room, we no longer call the room to attention, and the kids speak to him while they are seated. I still stand to talk to an officer. Even if I'm not in uniform.

I think the kids just don't know any better. They never learned.

Good to see you! The Coopster actually went to his wife's father and asked for her hand in marriage. I did not expect him to do this, and not only did it impress the father, it impressed ME!

See, that's where I would have been a great dad -- I would be able to point out to my son all the stupid, bone-headed moves he was about to make, before he made them, thereby increasing his likelyhood of survivng to another birthday!!

Now, Now, Lott didn't do the unpardonable, He was refering to Thurnman in his days of old, he din't say anything that was so bad. True, he should say 'I am sorry' or 'excuse me' but he is not that type of person they are making him out to be. Sure I get upset with him for cowtowering to the dems but is is just not like the 'other side' is painting.
I respect him, I get mad at him, I know he will do the right thing, whatever it is he does.

I have had my say on this matter and will say nothing else on it.

I see you got your 'puter fixed, did you go thru withdrawals without it? I am not a computer guy, not at all. Thak goodness s-i-l has his act together when it comes to computers and only a phone call away for me when mine goes down.

That is exactly what I have been teaching my kids. Now, my class at school must pick up on these curtesies.

Arab reporter asked him a question....... then just put words in Rumsfeld's mouth...and Rummy told him to stop doing it.....arab reporter wouldn't let it go...Rummy glared at him.

Second reporter a Brit asked about the story .... " if you hit us with WMD we nuke you"......Rummy told him NO US official made those comments....it was based a conversation between two reporters.

Wouldn't it be a bit awkward if Dad says yes, and she's undecided?
