We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail! [President Bush]
Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

WINTER STORM #2 - UPDATE
...SNOW IS FALLING AT A MODERATE RATE ACROSS VIRGINIA AND MARYLAND
Overnight totals at the cottage are about 3", though this has not been measured yet. The current QPF says there is another 0.5 inches of precipitable water availble from 7 AM this morning through 3 AM tomorrow morning.
The event total estimate is now 8" for the area based on the QPF. That is still a 3-roll event. NWS forecasts call for as much as 10", if it appears that total will be met, then the designation will change to a 4-roller.
In the news:
Iraq has accused the weapons inspectors of being spies for the United States and Israel and has condemmed the inspection of one of the Presidential Palaces.
The United States will compare Iraq's weapons list, if they have one - Iraq is quoted in this morning's news as still saying they have no WMDs - against its own data, and is prepared to cite Iraq for a breach.
The United States is preparing to call up reserves in the event of a war with Iraq.
A US District Judge ruled that Jose Padilla, being held in the brig as an enemy combatant, does fall under the purvue of the Federal court system, insofar as to whether the Government made a correct determination of his status. [EDITORIAL NOTE: This is so bogus - it has got to be overturned!! It throws the whole ability of a Nation to capture the enemy out of whack!!]
And Strom Thurmond has turned 100 today.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

The Out-of-Sync Antiwar Movement By Jim Hoagland
Hold your nose and hit the link (comPost), cuz the words cut hard. He even brings in an old, misunderstood friend, Albert Camus.

The coldest I've ever been was actually down here in Louisiana. Two days before Christmas in 1989, the thermometer dipped into the single digits, with a pretty stiff wind coming out of the north. The pipes burst on Christmas day, and with the temp peaking in the upper 20's, I had to crawl under the house to fix them wearing an old sweatshirt. Landing in Chicago during a blizzard back in '98 wasn't much fun either.

The NEXRAD Pathcast just alerted.
We have a cell of very heavy snow heading our way. Looks like it could be the last one, hopefully.

A GOOD A.M. TO ONE AND ALL THROUGHOUT THIS FROZEN USA (45 HERE IN MS ON THE COAST, WIND CHILL IN THE 20'S TONIGHT, PUTTING UP MY GLOBAL WARMING WARMING SURVIAL KIT) FROM THE MS GULF COAST, USA!!!!
COLD! Just got back from my 2 hour walk along the gulf and the wind is COLD. Don't see how you 'yankees' stand it, snow, ice, must be rough.
I see that France and Germany don't have too much respect for the USA, something else to keep me awake over tonight. We cut off all that money we send these and other 'nut' countries and you would see to 'love' for us start flowing.
OUR President W just ought to tell them to shove it and lets get on with our lives, we going to depend on them to 'save America if we are ever attacked?
Gotta go the 'the farm' this afternoon and put some antifreeze in the tractor, s-i-l gets off at 5 this P.M. and we are going to urn up there then. Don't want to get a busted block in my 53 ford jubilee tractor.
Good to see all up and about today so, pull out those long underware and stay warm, make a big bowl of chili, nothing better on a cold day and, have a good day, a safe one at that.

Prehaps he should 'run for the outhouse' instead, huh?

Excellent take, and spot on! Increasingly, the democrats are demonstrating a political tin ear that I am beginning to think is an act of God. After all the carping about Republicans robbing Social Security, that is just what Kerry is proposing! Amazing!
To: Common Tator
It is my understanding that employers pay a portion of F.I.C.A. Will these employers be getting the Kerry tax break or is it just for the employee? My guess is not likely.

The Social security is half employee and half employeer. The self employed pay double.
The Kerry tax is a one time break on both. But he wants the money made up by increased taxes on Companies and the "rich".
He is proposing that money be paid to the Social Security fund from the general fund and that America businesses and american "rich" pay for his Social Security tax cut.
It is a plan designed to send money to Asia and make American Businesses pay for it. It if passes companies will have to find a way to pay for it.
They will do it by laying off Amercian workers.

GC, thought about you while I was on vacation last week. I was up in the Ozarks, mostly in Arkansas, and a couple of days in Missouri. I was eating grits and loving it :) A little black pepper and a whole lot of butter.

OMG! lysie what an adorable picture. My grand kids are outside on their sleds. We just might go get pictures to share with you all.
Your hubby did a wonderful job with the shopping cart. Absolutely wonderful. Thanks for the pix.

The last heavy global warming descent band is leaving our area. Soon, in about 20-30 minutes, all global warming activity should cease at the cottage.
To: Common Tator
JFK2 was rambling on with Imus this morning about his taxing ideas. What a dope. Companies do NOT pay taxes - consumers pay taxes through higher prices that the companies then forward to governments.
And when companies tire of doing that, they move out of country.

To: gulfcoast6
Um, well I'm a cream of wheat and a maltomeal girl too :) I grew up on those, along with Ovaltine and Tang.
