Let me introduce to myself. I want you to know why a 70 year old man has once again taken a keen interest in the running of government today.

Forgot to add another thing - Campaign Finance Reform. Would Pat Buchanan or Tom DeLay or Ronald Reagan ever have signed this into law? I hope you can understand my frustration.

Did I read correctly above that you voted for FDR at the age of 12? Interesting.

Most people in the forum won't be suprised at me for asking this:

What is your opinion on Israel?

You sound like my kinda guy. I'm 51 (52 on Saturday, 11/23 in case you like to send a case of Irish whiskey and a box of Arturo Fuentes) and I'm looking forward to learning from you and getting to know you.

We're a contentious bunch, and our motto is, "When News Breaks, We Fix It".

If you voted for FDR in 1932, and you are 70 years old today, in the Year 2002.... when your mom went into the voting booth, did you reach out of the womb and pull the lever for her?

Joe, I appreciate much of what you had to say, but your credibility is hurting. You say you were born in 1932 and you voted 12 years later and again when you were 16 and again when you were 20. I find that hard to believe unless you are talking about when you were in school and the school had elections. Nevertheless, I am glad that you bellied up to the bar to post your thoughts.

Joe voting age was 21 back then, wasn't it?. So your first election may have been 1952 or 1956.

Only became 18 when.....sometime in the 60's?

Welcome to FR and your first post was most welcome.

Please turn off your TV and start studying the actual text. Oh, I am sure many people in our Congress have stuck in some very vile things, but the country will survive.

The GOP will get good judges who can and will rule that many items are not Constitutional. Until the GOP obtained control of the Senate, judges today invented things as they go along.

There are not activist Conservative judges. Conservative judges can read the Constitution without hallucinating.

Hi Joe...I disagree with everything you said. But, you have a right to say it. I love this president and thank God every day that he is in office now when we need him. I will vote for him again. I think that lots of people are getting 10 second snipets for their news and NOT doing their own research.

Like I read somewhere..if Gore had been in office, he would either haver thrown a few cruise missles at the problem or Afganistan would be glowing in the dark.

President Bush has been and will continue to be one of the greatest Presidents this country has ever had!

Welcome Joe

You're certainly entitled to your opinions on FR. That's one of the nice things.

I'm curious--you say you don't trust Bush and you state as a primary concern our being stripped of our liberties. Since you've been around through a few wars, do you not remember any similar steps during previous wars?

My point is that we have people in this country that want us and our way of life to cease. For the last eight years we have witnessed a systematic destruction of our intelligence community, a quadrupling of illegal immigrants, and an administration that chose to ignore the terrorist problem until it killed 3000 Americans.

The cells are among us. My plans have been layed.

Why don't you share with us how YOU propose to solve the problems without any of the aforementioned "attrocities".

By the way, I still can't believe anyone would've actually voted for Perot.

Hello Joe and welcome to the Free Republic forums! I've been snooping around here for a while now, but just today posted for the first time also.

Regardless of your little error in addition that allowed you to vote for FDR at the age of 12, let me say that while I don't particularly agree with your feelings about G.W. Bush, or his father for that matter, I respect your freedom and right to post your opinions.

And speaking of FDR... talk about a "king wannabee". The man's total control of the US government is the primary reason for two term limits on Presidents these days.

Hopefully, Big Brother will continue to respect all our freedoms and rights. I have a copy of the Homeland Security Bill... interesting reading. You can d-load it from this site:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/deptofhomeland/bill/hsl-bill.pdf

Enjoy!
