We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail! [President Bush]
Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave member of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!
A report from the Internatioanl Herald Tribune has Secretary General Annan saying that he intended, basically, to dress down the President in talks about the future of Iraq, informing Mr. Bush that he needs to have patience and allow the arms inspectors time to do their work, and not to rush to war.
Helen Thomas, in a speech this last Monday said she is tired of the President's "bullying drumbeat," and that "[i]t's as if they learned none of the lessons from Vietnam[.]"
Meanwhile, the White House has accepted the letter from Iraq as a signal they intend to cooperate with the current UN Security Council resolution.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

TLC is playing right now a great show about 9/11 and the WH.....will be repeated at Midnight I think....but better check.
To: gulfcoast6
They sure do need help and prayers, g6. Thanks for letting us know.
To: Molly Pitcher
I'm watching it. I need to check with Trill about recording it.

Oh, and Texas Air National Guard covered the President in AF1 after the attack.

"They took their best shot, now it's time for us to take our best shot" GW Bush. 43d President of the United States of America.
Quote of the day material. God Bless that man.

from Ellington Air Force base I believe, just n. of my old home town....

Trill has been watching bits and pieces as she wanders through. Her comment? A heart-felt: "I'm sooooo glad that he's our President..."

which reminds me... that Sam Houston Bowie knife story made me think of the fine Texas History museum at the San Jacinto Monument which my sister and I revisited last March.
Quite a lot about Houston in the exhibits.
To: JRandomFreeper
AMEN!! Has this been shown before?? How'd we miss it?
To: Molly Pitcher
I don't know if it's been shown before, but just the bits and pieces Trill has watched has re-energized her gladness that the tree didn't win the election. Shades of Election 2000.
Sheesh. I'm skipping a History Channel special about one of my heros. BTW, if you know the birthday keeper, Eugene Stoner has a birthday coming up on Nov 22. He would have been 80. (I think, born in '22)

Speaking of the tree, did you see the cartoon I posted here this morning? Go look for it. It's got a sinking ship, a donkey about to drown, and Gore as a floating log going past. The donkey can't decide whether to grab Gore or just go ahead and drown.
To: JRandomFreeper
You got me there....Eugene Stoner??? He's no longer with us????
If you don't tell me fast, I'll have to do a Google search!:-)
To: Mr. Mulliner
That was a great cartoon.
Drudge seems to be coming up with some new TERROR info....thread just posted...
To: Mr. Mulliner
Yes, I saw it. It brought forth a belly laugh. You and Chair have done a great job on the politico cartoons.

To: JRandomFreeper
Okay, on Nov. 22, we'll acknowledge Mr. Stoner's contributions:-)

He was the last of the greats. He invented 10% of the weapons I own. By law, no-one can ever do what he did again. He gave us the AR-10 and AR-15 (military version is the M-16). He was forward looking, not afraid to experiment, and his experiment may be what saves my life in the future.
Not a great businessman, but good enough, Gene focused on the task at hand. He created some of the best rifles we have seen. He's up there with Browning and Kalashnikov.

To: JRandomFreeper
Well I'm delighted to have learned something new...
It's a shame, but often visionaries and inventors often fail as businessmen.
It's left to other to make the money from the inventions.

Night john. You sound quite pleased and at ease with your first day of classes at culinary school!
To: Molly Pitcher
The sad part is there will be no next generation. Federal law prohibits experiments in fully automatic weapons unless you are very rich or a corporation. Gene and John Moses didn't operate under those conditions.
Now, our troop's weapons are designed by committees. Sometimes foreign comittees.
It breaks my heart.

You sound quite pleased and at ease with your first day of classes at culinary school! As I told Trill: "It's ok". ;>)
